Thankyou ED. I tried multi-monitor again just to see if it improved lately.

It's excellent! I don't know what you have done to improve it though?

Multi-monitor in A-10C is 3x as great as blackshark now. Very much improved.

I get 60 frames per second in A-10C with 2560x2680 resolution (MFDs below).

Ka-50 only gave 22 FPS with the same setup, and still does only give 22 FPS (but 60 FPS in 2560x1600 single port full screen mode)

Maybe you optimised window mode? Or optimised the graphics in general? Whatever it was it performs wonderfully.

I hope when DCS blackshark gets the new engine that multi-monitor in blackshark will also run with this performance level.

Does anyone else experience the same thing? Better performance in multi-monitor A-10C compared to the shark?

Are you using the 1 monitor setting with expanded mode or the 3 monitor setting?

I have searched high and low and asked on many flight sim forums but no one seems to know the following.

Just bought a Nvidia GTX590, running Windows 7 and 2 28" monitors. The option to SPAN the monitors is neither in windows or the Nvidia Drivers. If I understand correctly neither Vista nor Windows 7 allow you to span monitors anymore. Nvidia drivers only allow 3 monitors to span. Is there no way to make my games span just the two monitors? I really have to have 3 to make this work? Any ideas / help would be appreciated.

You can't access the Win7 display settings?

Vista spans two monitors, no problem. 1920x1080 and 1280x1080 = 3200x1080

Yes I can enter the Windows 7 setup. I have the option to extend the windows desktop, but not span the windows desktop. As a result there is no extending the main screen over both monitors either for DCS a10c or Flightsim X. Although the window will stretch in flightsim, the picture will snap back to the left monitor with a black screen on the right. With extend desktop option I can open 2 views in flightsimulator but can't extend one view across both monitors.

In the nivida control panel, options the option to use all monitors is greyed out. Again no way to span both monitors.

Span and extend are different, or at least I believe them to be.

rss0900 if i understand you correctly you need to do a couple of things..

  • Play the game in windowed mode, in the game options.

  • Enter your combined resolution manually, in the game options.

  • Use the 1 Screen option under MONITORS

This is all you should have to do.

This guide might help you some..http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=60815

But i don't think you need to create a custom lua file as the default 1Camera.lua file should work.

My question is how the hell did the OP fit a 1920x1080 monitor beneath a 30" 2560x1600? Is it mounted over your head?!

By using this:

ATDEC_VFS-DV_l.jpg

http://www.atdec.com.au/content_common/pr-visidec-freestanding-range_visidec-fresstanding-double-vertical-quick-shift.seo

Top monitor slightly overlaps the bottom just enough so that I have the exact dimensions correct of the MFDs:

Cockpit.JPG

This is the monitor setup below, after that just type in the full resolution into the main A-10 settings screen.

_  = function(p) return p; end;
name = _('Camera + Taipan MFCDs');
Description = 'Taipans Setup'
Viewports =
{
    Center =
    {
         x = 0;
         y = 0;
         width  = 2560;
         height = 1600;
         viewDx = 0;
         viewDy = 0;
         aspect = 16 / 10
    }
}

LEFT_MFCD =
{
    x = 332;
    y = 1720;
    width = 960;
    height = 960;
}

RIGHT_MFCD =
{
    x = 1292;
    y = 1720;
    width = 960;
    height = 960;
}

UIMainView = Viewports.Center

You can use multiple monitors, with full screen enabled you know?

Try SoftTH.

Will SoftTH work for a vertical setup like mine?

Is it easy to turn on and off? DCS is the only thing I do this for... other sims I just look at TS and maps etc in the second screen.

For DCS extend works, as long as you use windowed mode for DCS and setup each monitors resolution in the monitor config file in the folder D:\Games\DCS\DCS A-10C\Config\MonitorSetup

Thanks I'll definitely check that out. Maybe getting full screen could get blackshark performance up there with A-10.

But I'm still wondering why A-10 performs soo much better than blackshark in big resolutions?

Could it really be 64 bit or is it some other optimisations that ED has done?

talking about optimisations:

Maybe you benefit from this "optimisation" - but you didn't notice this so much at your narrow filed of view.

Thanks MadTommy, I will check this out and play around with it over the Holiday.

Ahh yes.

I saw this as a problem for people with large resolutions in general, the LOD boxing in Black Shark and FC2.

I played alot of FC2 multiplayer with my 30" monitor and because I have a big res I don't want to have to zoom all the time. But if I don't zoom then my Su-25T can see only little bricks until I'm right on top of them and then they become tanks/sams etc.

Multiplayer we couldn't do the fix I think because it's based on the server settings.

A-10C doesn't seem to have these bricks so it seems better, although I've pretty much got my head down in the TGP most of the time.

I can see how it would be much worse with a wide FOV though.
