Pacific Ocean (Aug. 11, 2005) - An F/A-18D Hornet, assigned to the "Fighting Omars" of Fighter Composite Squadron Twelve (VFC-12), prepares to make an arrested landing on the flight deck of the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76). VFC-12 is the Naval Reserve's premier adversary squadron providing threat tactics training to all Navy fighter and strike fighter squadrons. Reagan is currently underway in the Pacific Ocean conducting carrier qualifications for the West Coast Fleet Replacement Squadrons.

is this ok?

Thought Fighting Omars was an odd squadron name . . . . . it being an Aggressor fits very nicely.

Note the painted fake-intake-slats on the LERX, copied from the Fulcrum.

The Aggressors have always had neat camo schemes . . . . original copies of RL Soviet paintjobs, but these days I'm starting to wonder whether they really are, or whether they just do it because it's a paintjob the pilot will never have seen before, to throw them off.

Note also the fake fin tops, like those on the Flanker. Recent aggressor-painted aircraft (F-16, F-18 and F-14) have shown similar features to reproduce the new generation of Russian aircraft. I also remember some strange-painted radomes to simulate the one of the Flanker.

Yeah, that's true, aggressor camos are very cool.

They're not always done to be realistic, they're very often fictional, maybe with exaggerated camos.

I also read in an aviation magazine that there seems to be even a reverse-camo, that is early flankers seem to be painted like earlier aggressor F-5E, which were already carrying blue-grey camos with dark radomes. but maybe it was just the article author who was drunk.

Anyway this is one of the coolest F-18 camos, together with the grey "tigermeet" F-18.
