Fudd Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 I told my wing man to return to base. While attempting to do this he ran out of fuel, and landed at another base. He then proceeded to taxi across the ocean to the base we took off from. The code is probaly in Russian anyway.
Jester_159th Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 Must have been a navalised version!! :D Seriously though, never heard of that before. If it happens again can you get a screenshot? Also, what bases did it taxi between?
Fudd Posted August 15, 2005 Author Posted August 15, 2005 I forget the name of the bases, here is the pic The code is probaly in Russian anyway.
pappavis Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 I told my wing man to return to base. While attempting to do this he ran out of fuel, and landed at another base. He then proceeded to taxi across the ocean to the base we took off from. Now thats something that really ticks me off is those wingmen, when running low on fuel they will disobey all orders and head to the nearest airbase. Even when there are massive AAA and SAMs at the base. Instant suicide for the stupid AI's. Hope ED will someday do something about this AI behaviour. met vriendelijke groet, Михель "умный, спортсмен, комсомолетс" [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] [TABLE]SPECS: i9-9900K 32gigs RAM, Geforce 2070RTX, Creative XFi Fata1ity, TIR5, Valve Index & HP Reverb, HOTAS Warthog, Logitech G933 Headset, 10Tb storage.[/TABLE]
Jester_159th Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 One way to stop the AI landing anywhere it likes is to set up a GAI flight (of whichever coalition you want the base to belong to) at each base. If you don't want the GAI flight to actually engage in combat, set it's start time hours later than the actual mission start. That way. at least when the AI disappears off to the nearest base, it'll at the very least have to head for one allied with you.
Fudd Posted August 15, 2005 Author Posted August 15, 2005 I figured out what is actually going on. I have tested this a few times with other aircraft and it works every time. Once your wing man declaires "Bingo Fuel" and begins his breakaway to a different base, you then order him to return to homeplate. The AI reponds with a "Roger" but continues his approach to the airfield of his choosing. Once he lands at the airfield he then continues to taxi across ocean, mountains, or any other terrain. I have jumped into his aircraft to see what happens and of course I instantly drown or crash. Can anyone else can duplicate this crazy behavior???????????? The code is probaly in Russian anyway.
SuperKungFu Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 I actually met this similar bug before, but it wasn't my wingman but Me! lol. I dunno why but I was on a carrier with the Su-33, then all of a sudden the ship starts to move without me. And I fall off the carrier but I'm on top of the "solid" water with my canopy opened, wings folded and engines off. I didn’t sink or die. I took a screenshot before but I guess I deleted it. Well, I’ll post this other bug I faced. One time I took over my wingman’s plane but when I looked outside, there was no pilot. I could actually fly around without a pilot sitting inside. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Fudd Posted August 16, 2005 Author Posted August 16, 2005 I have also ran into the "no pilot" bug, but it was only after jumping into an aircraft that AI had parked and shut down. What I really want to know is: can anyone else duplicate this wingman bug?????????? The code is probaly in Russian anyway.
Tracker Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005 Perhaps the water was frozen. (J/K) I have experienced some of this strange stuff as well. Its still a bit buggy. After landing backcourse at Gudauta in the Su-33 my Jet would ignore all input commands an roll out over the ocean at locked runway alt. Then, upon quitting and rejoining, there were TWO of me. So of course I immediatly did what any good pilot would do, hunt down the imposter and destroy him. Easier said than done, the Black Sea is big and by the time you respawn and go looking (even with F2 view) it was so hard to find I realized it was invisible from my cockpit. (it did cast a shadow though but I couldn't shoot it down) Finally I gave up and about 10 minutes later the server crashed. Well sometimes like the song says: "Live and Let Die" When all else fails, Eject then read the manual. Oh, and a good wingman helps.
