LcSummers Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Hi all, its me again, yes a newbie. I am sorry if this has been posted. Searched this forum and i cant find the blog with engine fire. I think iread it somewhere. My problem: I am at the runway giving thrust to engines. Everything is looking good. Before taking off, i get a right engine fire. :helpsmilie: What am i doing wrong? Dont know why this is happening. I let the airplane lifting off, so there is no high positive angle.

sobek Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Do you mean i have to record it? Just click 'save track' on the debriefing screen, save to a location of choice on your comp, then provide the said .trk file. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!

emtguf Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 I am betting bird strike. I had my first one on takeoff the other day. Wish I had been frapsing at the time as I tried to restart the engine before landing with one engine and a failing hydraulic system.
CEPEGA Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 (edited) If it's not because of too high AOA, then it's another victim of the evil birds :D btw: it would be nice if you could see in debrief what exactly caused the damage during the mission. :music_whistling: Edited August 2, 2011 by CEPEGA Asus Z97-PRO | Intel i7-4790K @ 4.00Ghz | beQuite! LcSummers Posted August 2, 2011 Author Posted August 2, 2011 I tried it today and see, no engine fire. Seems really that i had twice a time a birdstrike!! Never thought about it. So i have done the BLACK SEA RAMPSTART and made it to waypoint 6, where i had to land. It was my fourth landing but everytime i land i damage a wheel. This time it was only the right wheel. Seems it was a little heavy touchdown. On second landing i destroyed two out of three wheels, the first landing resulted in a rupturing all wheels and i have broken off the left wing. I ll getting better. Cheers LC

EDIT: Looking now at my screenshot i see the right engine is OFF, at least it lookes like that. Didn't realised it in the mission, so i guess it wasn't the cross wind  Edited August 2, 2011 by CEPEGA Asus Z97-PRO | Intel i7-4790K @ 4.00Ghz | beQuite! Frostiken Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Since it's not obvious what it does, some people may be setting the 'Birds' slider all the way up thinking it's a graphic setting of some sort. If you're having excessive birdstrikes, I suggest toning it down to no more than 200%. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
WildBillKelsoe Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 I have a suggestion. Fire a missile (preferably the maverick to the second point, and that should scare the birds off. Then order a re-arm on the tarmac, and finally takeoff, birds are away.:megalol: AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS Fat T is above, thin T is below. CEPEGA Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 lol, you can't fire weapons as you are on the ground :D btw, when i first time set the birds high (150% in my case), i thought it's an grafical setting. On the first flight with that setting i got awarded a Purple Heart Medal after an birdstrike  Now i set it to max 50% Asus Z97-PRO | Intel i7-4790K @ 4.00Ghz | beQuite! Frostiken Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 I got a L ENG fire just about on landing while shooting a low visibility ILS approach to I think Batumi. It couldn't have been a bird strike as I was below 200 knots the whole time. Uh, and why couldn't it? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

It's really too bad though, I would've liked to have been able to eliminate my wingman before he hit me during takeoff for the 20th time. Edited August 3, 2011 by ashcanpete
cypher_142 Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 I don't think there is a speed threshold, i have witnessed a birdstrike straight after touchdown and batumi. i was doing 130 km/h a perfect touchdown than out of nowhere my left engine warning light starts going mad I7 4770K@4.5 GHZ, Gigabyte Z87X-OC FORCE, 24GB Ram, Aorus GTX 1080 TI extreme edition, 500 GB SSD,120 GB SSD , 2TB HDD, Corsair H80i, Win 7 Ultimate 64bit, Logitech G940,TrackIR 5 + Pro Clip [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Not sure if 200 km/h was actually a real figure or more of a guess though.
