Atomic978 Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 (edited) Hi Just wondering if someone could answer a couple questions for me. 1. will the new patch add dynamic shadows to the pit like the A10? 2. I currently only have one mod installed with Blackshark right now. That is Ricardo HD pit. Will this still work after patch? I know most people say a clean install then patch and that is probably what I am going to do anyways. Was just wondering. Thanks. Heli Shed Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 1. - Wait and see. 2. - In theory the next patch would be 1.1.0.3 for DCS BS, 1.1.0.10 for the A-10C series, so again, you'll have to wait and see. IMHO, the mods will be fine. Intimate Dir structure will remain the same. A clean install (following official advice) is ALWAYS better than a patch. Atomic978 Posted August 6, 2011 Author Posted August 6, 2011 I agree about clean installs. I have had A10 since beta 1 and have never patched. Always a clean full install and have not had any issues. So I don't mind doing the full install. =RvE=Atomic Alienware Area-51, Intel Core2 Quad CPU Q9400 @ 3.2GHz, 8gig Corsair XMS2 DDR2 Ram, EVGA SC GTX 570, Western Digital 1.0TB 64mb cache HD. Nate--IRL-- Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 Dynamic shadows are unlikely. The cockpit has to be re-built from scratch, in the new EDM model format for shadows to be available. A-10 actually used 2 cockpits, the old LOM cockpit was used up until 1.1.0.7 and the EDM cockpit is what we have now. The A-10 EDM cockpit took ages to develop and bug test. Remember that the Patch is a Compatibly patch - new features are a bonus Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
Atomic978 Posted August 6, 2011 Author Posted August 6, 2011 Yes thx Nate. That was what I was wondering. Is there going to be any changes to the shark in the patch that can be mentioned at this time. =RvE=Atomic Alienware Area-51, Intel Core2 Quad CPU Q9400 @ 3.2GHz, 8gig Corsair XMS2 DDR2 Ram, EVGA SC GTX 570, Western Digital 1.0TB 64mb cache HD. Nate--IRL-- Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 I imagine goal for the aircraft itself is to get it as close as possible to v1.02, but in the current sim engine. There are no new features that I've noticed, small tweaks here and there yes, but no new features. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading

Mustang Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 I think Bucic is pointing to the missing door texture like in this screenshot http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1117369&postcount=295
Griffin Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 Wasn't there also something wrong in the flight model when autorotating?

I've never noticed it before. Missing textures usually show up bright orange in sim. That looks like as flat colour was applied, by design. Cowboy10uk Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 (edited) If it makes it work with A10 then I'm happy, but to be honest the only thing I would want to see is the nvg bug fixed, I like a few others havnt been able to fly nvg in over a yr. Rather annoying as we are missing quite a large part of the experience. I'm sure u won't let us down though, I know we have been complaining about the nvgs for some time. Cowboy10uk Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 Nope, or certainly I've never had the issue in A10, and up to last month was still running the same dual monitor setup. My fellow pilots who I fly with still use the same profile, But Nvg works in A10, but as you can see get very distorted in Bs I know it's strange, no one has yet managed to kind out what causes it. I'm guessing by your answer you may not have been aware of it, if so Please Nate could you tell the team about it. Of course if anyone else is having this issue in A10, please speak up. I'm guessing by your answer you may not have been aware of it, if so Please Nate could you tell the team about it. I want to confirm this. Imho the nvg is the single most important thing to fix. I received a support ticket response that confirmed that this is a bug and that they "will try to fix this is the next patches". I also got pointed to a thread with a supposed temporary solution, but as you guys know there is none at the moment. starkey817 Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Is there any chance the Waypoint Mode button on the PVI-800 will be addressed in this patch? Its kind of a nit-picky thing to even bring up so its no big deal if not, was just curious.

Griffin Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 To answer myself: In DCS BS I found idle mode not sufficient to properly train for autorotation event. This is true, the engines in DCS BS, at idle, are producing way too much power so you can't really autorotate properly...well, the start is fine, but flaring at the bottom is not realistic at all, as you can basically hover with the engines at ground idle (not gonna happen in a real helicopter). To me, this is a big issue in the flight model of a DCS series aircraft. Flight model is the holiest thing after all. Anyway this could be looked at? AlphaOneSix is of course an ED tester but I'm not sure if he has anything to do with Ka-50 testing.
starkey817 Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Please, if there is something to be looked at, go into detail, Don't assume the problem is known. Nate Apologies, I was just referring to the illumination of the Waypoint Mode button on the PVI-800 when it is pressed. More often than not, it doesn't light up when pressed. So when activating a waypoint you press the Waypoint Mode button then select one of up to six waypoints, depending on which waypoint you want to use. Most of the time, I press the button and select my waypoint but the WP Mode button doesn't light up. This happens even when the PVI-800 is functioning properly. Other times, the light on the button will work, but when I crash and spawn in a new aircraft the button no longer illuminates when pressed. From what I've noticed its random and there is nothing that stands out as a cause to it.

Bucic Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 (edited) Missing textures? Or do you mean just flat textures? Nate For a simple man - same, as I've seen quite fancy dummy textures automatically applied in place of the missing textures, in that game or another :sly: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=48806 Edit: That looks like as flat colour was applied, by design. I don't mean to be grumpy but it's a design that needs to be dropped and the cockpit fixed. To me, this is a big issue in the flight model of a DCS series aircraft. To much power on idle engines setting - yup, that's quite eye poking. But are there other consequences of that bug apart of inability to practice autorotations on idle? Yeah that picture illustrates it quite clearly. However, I doubt it will be touched unless they decide re-model the cockpit. And that isn't going to be in the Compatibility Patch I'm afraid, if at all. EDIT:- I'll report it though - you never know.
