Direwolf Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 (edited) I really apreciated this application, but unfortunately I can´t use it in my system. And the reason is that my Windows (portuguese version), doesn´t come with Microsoft SAPI (Speak recognition), and VAC needs it to run. If I wanted it running, I´d have to reinstall a Window´s English version, and I ´won´t do that for logical reasons. So, while Microsoft doesn´t extend this application to all languages, we, mere mortals, won´t take advantage of this sensational app. I´m so frustrated!!! Edited October 3, 2011 by Direwolf

JerseyRyan Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 Does anyone know, how to supress the voice-over of the own pilot? I'd like to use VAC as if I was really talking over the radio. So basically, I don't want the pilot to repeat what I just said. Will it work if I just delete all sound files of the pilot?
Mule Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Great stuff Fish. I have flown online with this guy a couple of times and i learnt more in that time than i ever did on my own with the manuals. The bloke is awesome! Fighter Pilot Podcast.

Yes you can just delete the pilot sound files, try doing a forum search because I can't remember which ones, there was a thread about it. metalnwood Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 I have been using this as well, mostly for radios as well as a couple of snapviews and trackir commands. I don't like mapping and remembering that kind of stuff on the hotas. It's working really well. I was surprised given most demos you see of voice recognition. I demoed it and bought it after a few days.
JerseyRyan Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Yes you can just delete the pilot sound files, try doing a forum search because I can't remember which ones, there was a thread about it. Thanks!
Supersheep Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Is it possible to use VAC to control the radio settings like frequency and all the other knobs on the radio and intercom panel? I see that there are (unused) commands prepared in the options menu, so I assume that this should work. That would be gorgeous! I see only frequency increase/decrease commands, no way to directly command a specific frequency with VAC, however... Supersheep The PVC Pipe Joystick Stand How to thread
LostOblivion Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 I have seen this be done here before. Not sure where, but it should get you started searching. Nice plane on that gun... OS764 P930@4 MBUD3R M6GB G5870 SSDX25 CAntec1200 HTMHW
StrongHarm Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 I've done full VAC setups for KA50 and FC2, but I've held off on creating one for A-10C until the radio menu stabilizes. (See threads VAC Blackshark or VAC FC2 for more info on VAC, a vid, and voice to key command profiles I've created. If you want only the A-10C startup checklist (readback) you can get it here.) I think after the next patch I'm going to complete it as I believe the radio menus won't be changing as much in the future. If it's done correctly, it takes several hundred lines of XML, and I only want to do it once. For instance; you can say "wingman (pause) go formation (pause) combat spread", and that's pretty easy to set up as you have one line for wingman, then you create a call for each command to the wingman. However, the prefered way would be to say "wingman go formation combat spread" with no pausing between commands. To do this you need to create a line for every possible combination of commands. Yes, you can set the command time in miliseconds, but it's just not full proof and requires you to say it a certain way. With the command combination method, I can speak the commands at any tone or speed, with my pipe in my teeth, and it always accepts them. Blackshark took many many hours to complete, but it has a lot more command combinations for the wingmen. I'll post the warthog commands when they're complete. As for VAC in general, it's an awesome application and well worth less than $20. It's stable with free updates, and the support is great. The extra immersion it provides is really well worth it. It's a good thing that this is Early Access and we've all volunteered to help test and enhance this work in progress... despite the frustrations inherent in the task with even the simplest of software... otherwise people might not understand that this incredibly complex unfinished module is unfinished. /light-hearted sarcasm
Supersheep Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 @StrongHarm: I know your profiles (really great) and understand the concept of covering every [insert curse here ;)] single combination, but I would want to set up VAC to set the buttons of the radios without looking down. Then, after that, your work comes into play. I'll hit Google for some background on radios with VAC now (better than forums search..?) Respect for the BS and FC radio profiles, though! I assume you know this fwllow's work: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=59641&highlight=radio+vac Supersheep The PVC Pipe Joystick Stand How to thread
StrongHarm Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 I resist adding voice commands for switches. It removes immersion for me rather than adding to it. One set of commands I do believe in adding is the views. It's better to stay heads up and say "view CDU" than to have to keyboard it. If you're making your own VAC profile I would suggest adding the phonetic spellings of some words. I think this and command combinations is what makes my profiles very functional. Also I activate and deactivate voice commands with "open channel" or "open UHF" for instance. I don't want my wing attacking a SAM cluster when I tell my wife I'll take the trash out when I'm good and ready. :) It's a good thing that this is Early Access and we've all volunteered to help test and enhance this work in progress... despite the frustrations inherent in the task with even the simplest of software... otherwise people might not understand that this incredibly complex unfinished module is unfinished. /light-hearted sarcasm
Supersheep Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 That is a good point. And wing attacking a SAM cluster when I tell my wife I'll take the trash out when I'm good and ready Did you learn this by doing?^^ Too dumb to be devised xD Supersheep The PVC Pipe Joystick Stand How to thread
AJ.eightFive Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Anyone think they can help with this? (Trying to eliminate player speech and the delay after "transmitting" a message for better immersion when using VAC) http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=71121
sparchy Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 Nice thing about this VAC program is it will work with just about any active window you have displayed. I have yet to find a sim that it won't work with. Well worth the money
AJ.eightFive Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 To all those usng VAC, I have created a mod that suppresses the virtual pilot's speech and delays between issuing a command and receiving a response. See this post: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1345157#post1345157
Sephroth Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 Trying to get this to work with my Warthog Hotas but I can't get an activator button to work. VAC is setup to use the "backspace" button as the activate button, and I have assigned S4 (pinkie lever) on my Warthog to come out as backspace, but when I'm in the game nothing happens. If I test it outside of the game and physically hold the backspace button, it works fine. Any ideas?
