-Ice Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 It is an Add-on for the DCS and FC products mentioned. Nate So does it meld with the respective program (ie, we'll just get a new menu choice) or will it be a totally different program? Just curious, won't matter either way. And let me be the first to blame ED for making us realize that there is not enough free time in each day/week for all the goodies. - Ice

I'd guess it will detect which programs you have installed and meld - but it is far far to early to say for sure. Agg Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Did you not read point 5?I did, but saying that it's being worked on in parallel doesnt mean that its getting the same kind of attention that it would have gotten if it was their only project. ED is a relatively small company, unless something drastic has happened over the last few months, so Im guessing that there isnt a dedicated team working on just the new DCS-module, but that they are working on several projects at once. Which again means that things are going to take more time...
GGTharos Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 I don't think ED is interested in doing a single project over 3 years or so any longer. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda

Nobody96 Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 I reckon the classic will be not as old as a P51 would be, because it would mean that all the stuff you can currently shoot at wouldn't fit. Therefore I think and hope its will be something like the Phantom 2. so long Mathias My System: Intel Core i7-4770K, Asus ROG Strix RX480 O8G, 24GB Ram

Agg Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 It does. Everything is modelled to accord with the DCS fidelity standard.Okay, let me re-phrase that, I didnt mean that it wouldnt be up to the DCS standard, but that it was going to take a lot longer to get it to that standard because people are working on all kinds of other projects alongside the new DCS module. And as I said in my first post, I understand the need to get things out on a fairly regular basis to keep the cash flow going. But adding new projects all the time just gets me thinking that everything is going to take a lot longer...

coolts Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 It makes a lot of sense to iterate the Flaming Cliffs brand after each new DCS module to maintain compatability and upgrade the engine. Then swap out each basic FM plane with its AFM DCS counterpart. (if you want to). Lets face it boys & gals, who here will NOT want to scream out of Nellis AFB in an F-15 in full AB to intercept a flight of Migs flying cover for bombers threatening Vegas. B1Helios Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 (edited) Just a quick thought. Assuming ED stays on track with all of this. How feasible is it going to be for someone hosting the server to run all of these addons? I guess a better question is, how will all of this be implemented in the online environment so as to not bring whoever is hosting's computer to its knees? Secondly, are there plans to allow game hosting companies to offer dedicated servers for all the DCS series of aircraft? Other than that, I don't mean to sound like a pessimist, by far! I'm very excited to see that these are all, 'tentatively', in the works. Edited November 13, 2011 by B1Helios

There is a point in software development where more resources on a project hinders rather than helps the development speed. If ED have as many people on it as required then why not have others on another project if they cannot help the time to market for the DCS title. I don't play FC since A10 went in to beta but I look forward to more products.
