ZQuickSilverZ Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 (edited) I know this may seem an odd request. I work for an airline maintenance base (the largest commercial airline base in the world in fact 9,000 est employees, 260 acres, 3,300,000 sq ft) and have many co workers that may be interested in this sim (this is a highly concentrated area of people with at least some interest in aviation. Otherwise why else would they do this for a living right?). I would like some posters to display on the walls to advertise for ED. Think you ED guys could send me some? Edited November 17, 2011 by ZQuickSilverZ I need, I need, I need... What about my wants? QuickSilver original. "Off with his job" Mr Burns on the Simpsons. Medic88 Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 why not save ed time and money and just tell them all about the sim with words. you tell an employee and he tells another. is called knock on effect. Or are ya just trying to get free posters for ya room
EtherealN Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Medic, be nice. ;) Quick, I don't know if that is possible, but I'll try to remember to ask. ZQuickSilverZ Posted November 18, 2011 Author Posted November 18, 2011 (edited) Medic, ever hear the expression a picture is worth a thousand words? I can only speak to one person at a time (also I do WORK there which limits my socialization time). There is also the fact that not all people I communicate with about the game are going to be interested. The great thing about a poster is it attracts attention of multiple people and only those that have an interest need respond, as opposed to getting thier ear raped. Follow me? Posters to decorate my room with might be neat (though I am not a poster guy) however, I am much more interested in having more pilots joining the fun in multiplayer action. kyletiernan Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 I think one of the best ways to advertise is through youtube. I know many who have purchased this sim after watching videos like mine and Glowing Amraams. 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
EtherealN Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 Something being the best way doesn't mean that's the only thing one should do. ;) There are people who don't trawl youtube for videos, for example. Krebs20 Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 Hey quicksilver. Got a job lined up for me? I need a summer job. I'm in school for my A&P right now. I'll pay you in redhead pictures... (inside joke) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Phantom88 Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 I've been posting DCS A-10C Screenshots in a lot of FSX and flight sim related forums......they've been drawing alot of interest. Patrick
Krebs20 Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 Lol. Chicago people here now. A quick thought for you gold rush. See if ED can send you a pdf of the box art and use that for your poster. The back cover has some good info. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
jeffyd123 Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 its funny, I tell certain people (that I think may be interested) in my job about A-10... show them U-Tube vids and go on about how real and challenging it is... they never take interest. Oh well, the internet wins for finding like-hobbied folks. i7 8700K @ 4.4Ghz, 16G 3200 RAM, Nvidia 1080Ti, T16000 HOTAS, TIR5, 75" DLP Monitor

(inside joke) Ha ha GoldRush... your killing me (thats my jet name, when I fly a helo I go by QuickSilver). The Tulsa base for American Airlines is hiring right now. I am not sure what the mechanics start out at but they top out somewhere around 30 an hour plus license premium. Go to aacareers.com to see if they are hiring in your city. I could always use more pics of redheads. Edited November 20, 2011 by ZQuickSilverZ I need, I need, I need... What about my wants? QuickSilver original. "Off with his job" Mr Burns on the Simpsons. Oh well, the internet wins for finding like-hobbied folks. It has never worked and never will. Majority of people do not want to spend hours learning anything, anymore. Just the way it goes. It takes a special type of individuals to be get into flight sim. The type that love to fly but can never afford to do it for real. :D ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P

joey45 Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 @JimMack. I was thinking of asking for some stuff for the up coming London Gaming Con. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. Ghillied raptor Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 It has never worked and never will. Majority of people do not want to spend hours learning anything, anymore. Just the way it goes. It takes a special type of individuals to be get into flight sim. The type that love to fly but can never afford to do it for real. :D Don't get me wrong, I LOVE this simulator. However, games like Battlefield, Call Of Duty ect. take a much shorter time to pick up and play for the same amount of enjoyment (depending on the individual, though chances are more people would enjoy the latter more anyway). Which is especially good when work and/or other commitments come in. If you look at it in a way, imagine the time spent devoutly learning DCS to other things, say work or getting a higher education. We're actually less productive :D
leafer Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 I'd say 95 percent of my flying, since I've started simming, has been just that, flying. I don't do campaign, I don't care about medals and I don't read manuals. Once in a while I'd rearrange the ground targets in my "TargetPractice.miz" so they present some level of difficulty, but not too much. If I find a particular target is difficult to kill with gun then I'd replace it with a static one, so I don't get all shot up. I'm not technically gifted so when I want to shoot MAV or drop LGB, I just learn the keys and the order in which I need to press them. I love flying first and foremost, so I do a lot of aerobatic dance over the same airfield over and over...and haven't gotten tired of it yet. :D I cannot wait to try DCS Fighter because in a dogfight, you're basically doing aerobatic but with gun. ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P

Dejjvid Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Looks really neat. If you got time, please make a poster too. I've got a big format printer at work. PeterP Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 poster Dejjvid, simply open the UK version in adobe reader (or equivalent) and copy and paste only the image into a graphic program and your poster is nearly finished. 1
Krebs20 Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Nice work JimMack. Only I feel its missing a the part where its online compatible with Blackshark 2. As it stands, a good bit of advertising. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Dejjvid Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 So your saying the small leaflets, stored as a PDF contain 300dpi+ A0 images? I believe not. Especially since the total size is around 22MB. The posters I produce end up as 500-2000MB PDF's.. i7 8700K | GTX 1080 Ti | 32GB RAM | 500GB M.2 SSD | TIR5 w/ Trackclip Pro | TM Hotas Warthog | Saitek Pro Flight Rudder [sigpic]http://www.132virtualwing.org[/sigpic]
