159th_Viper Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 Had that exact same thing happen on the range whilst undergoing Officer's training - only difference is that the grenade fell at the soldier's feet and him and the instructor went over the wall in front of them......Thank goodness for the 5-sec det! Needless to say the soldier was RTB'd the same day....scared me dry that did, witnessing from a bunker 10 metres away  Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? Griffin Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 Wow that officer did really great job! I can't make out what exactly happened. Did it bounce off the front wall or did it get stuck on the sleeve? You always hear stories about these. We only threw practise grenades with just a detonator and dust filling. Finnish grenades have 2.5 sec fuses. Would hate that happening with those...
EtherealN Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 Awesome instructor there indeed. Excellent reaction time, proper priority list, and physically dragged the student into safety. That's definitely the type of instructor you want in your country's service. joey45 Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 Shiz can happen. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. Looked like it slipped from his hand while he was trying to throw it, nice of the instructor not only to save him but also escort him away so he could change his underwear!
weasel75 Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 .. Finnish grenades have 2.5 sec fuses.... That sounds awefully short - for CQB this is fine, but for (defensive) grenades thrown at a larger distance this would become an airburst, wouldn't it?! basic for translators ...
Nu-NRG Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 Officers reaction. WOW! Something to look up to! First he properly ducked and than he dragged the trainee down. Aviate - Navigate - Communicate
