You can't. When all mark points have been used (A-Y), any further mark points made will overwrite existing marks in the same order.

You can use CDU for clear all created markpoint: System / DTS /DTSUPLD / ORIG NAV DATA (or ALL NAV DATA), but this causes the modified or added waypoints and/or flight plan data to be lost.

Thanks for pointing this out - yet another feature I had not yet discovered despite many hours spent exploring the capabilities of the CDU.

I have to say, though, that if I make mark points I feel are useful enough to wish to preserve well into a mission I generally convert them to waypoints and give them a meaningful name. In other words, I don't usually care much what letter is assigned to a mark point if it is for immediate use, and so have never really had a reason to look for a way to clear them. To each their own, though, and it is cool to learn there is a way to accommodate the desire to reset the system as BillyCrusher points out.

Thanks again ED!

" I generally convert them to waypoints"

I missed that procedure somewhere along the way,,,,

If you hook something (or just hover the TAD cursor over a TAD object(I think)) you will notice a question mark by OSB 17. Pressing this OSB will "copy" that TAD object and create a new mission waypoint at it's location.

You can also enter mark points directly into the FPM page in the CDU, and turn them into waypoints that way

check out page 311 of the flight manual for more info on the TAD copy function

Ahh,,, I was thinking it was something you could easily do in the CDU,,,Ive done alot of reading and training,,, I havnt dabbled into hooking via TAD yet

I think it's a heck of a lot easier with the TAD than with the CDU.

Here an example of the process.

1. TAD as SOI

2. Slew TAD cursor over map object (markpoints, red triangles etc.)

3. TMS up short to hook (you should see the dashed yellow line appear)

4. Press OSB 17 on the TAD

Done!

I agree,, it certainly sounds like the way to go! I seem to recall some reading many months ago on this that there were going to be instances where you would not be able to utilize this approach? I recall something about Group ID/Network ID or something,, Also I think there was some mention about multiplayer scenerious? I honestly dont remember specifics,,, Gosh,,, there is so much to learn still,,,
