Good find.

"...Pilot heat..." - ah bless, keep the pilot nice and cosy.

I love how they took off from the taxi road and not the runway, without even noticing.

And here's me shouting at people who don't use their indicators on roundabouts. Imagine working at an airport with these guys in charge of a plane!

Nah, I also didn't laugh out loud. Though I did find their commentary at times hilarious, even if the button-fumbling made me cringe at times. I was there once, too....

I think they did the software justice, though. They didn't try to candy-coat how hard it can be, they commented on the feeling of accomplishment one can get from succeeding in even simple tasks in the software, and they did a decent job of showing the depth of the simulation.

All in all, it was put forth in a way that will attract those who are naturally inclined to be interested in this type of software, and which won't leave the more casual gamer feeling gypped from getting conned into buying it as a result of false promises.

And it was funny. Let's not forget that! (for that matter, they actually made a pretty decent showing for themselves once they got airborne! I have to say, I didn't really expect them to hit anything!)

We've done that actually. :D

- "Bravo Foxtrot, clear for takeoff."

*BF, still on taxiway, takes off*

- "Bravo Foxtrot, that's not quite what I meant..."

LOL That was hilarious!

I have been following giant bomb since they started from 2 ex-gamespot editors 2-3 years ago and i have to say that i didn't expect them to ever make a quick look on a military simulator. I am glad they did though. It was awesome!

To me that was their 2nd funniest quick look. They made one last year about the kinect sports on the XBOX, i think it was. Look it up if you want to have a laugh.

On another note: It's good promotion for the company and the game. I went on and bought the game straight away on steam to support the company :p (Previously played lock-on, lock-on flaming cliffs and black shark). Time to undust that TrackIR and HOTAS :D

I gotta say the best thing about that video is simply seeing how people with different experience (in this case, none) learn the aircraft or what they think of it... I was able to figure it out more or less on my own only really because of understanding of how military aircraft tend to need to function, amusing watching people who don't even really know the difference between a taxiway and a runway :D

I've seen a lot of Giant Bomb and they actually made me buy this game. I loved how "real" the game looked and worked.

And maybe the best QL they ever made.

Welcome to A-10C then, EternaLi!

I thoroughly enjoyed the Quick Look for many of the same reasons Frostiken mentioned. It was refreshing to see an entirely different perspective on the aircraft and their enjoyment with each new feature discovered - especially the gun! - was thoroughly entertaining.

The inherent detail and realism is the very reason most of us are here. I hope you find it a similarly engaging experience. :)

Yeah, I have always liked the idea of simulators but this is my first real flight sim. Other than testing demos and such in the past.

Just now I'm trying to learn the basics. I can start up, take off and sometimes land the bird. But when it comes to navigating, using the weapons, tacticts, rules of engagement I have no clue at all. :)

I have played some Arma 2 (mostly warfare though) and pretty interested in military vehicles and aircrafts - perhaps more into choppers than planes. Anyway, maybe that helps me at least a little in this journey learning to master the A-10. :)

Oh, if you are into "choppers" (some snobs might call them helicopters or rotary wing aircraft ;) ) - check out the DCS:BlackShark.

It covers a russian helicopter (Ka-50) and is from the same line of painfully detailed simulations as the DCS:A-10.

The BlackShark is (online-)compatible with the A-10-module.

I'm not a big fan of the Ka-50 though and I don't like the russian panels. Or can I have English labels?

If they release an Apache or Supercobra, then I'm home. It would be great in MP. AI gunner - not so much.

You can switch everything (panels, labels, even wingman and betty voices) to english in Black Shark GUI options menu. I use it too cause I don't speak russian. Plus the new campaign in BS2 is recorded in english as well, which is good. And the BS is a great fun to fly!
