VFA41_Lion Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 This topic is gonna be less about the 'Hog and more about the simulator's other aspects.. like naval ops and fast movers and such. Anyways, the Kuznetsov is armed to the teeth. In a mission I just saw it take down a wave of HARM missiles, fire about ten SS-N-9 Granit anti-ship missiles, sink a Normandy cruiser, a Perry destroyer, shoot down the Harpoons lobbed at it, and gun down the Tomahawks. And it was entirely alone. It's got guns, its got the SA-15 system, its got the SA-19 system, its got anti-ship missiles, and best of all, it can launch and recover aircraft. Russia sure knows how to build an aircraft carrier!
Shein Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Me and a few friends have a lot of fun trying to take it on. ...we never once even HIT it...
Grimes Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 With the changed gun modeling added in FC2 (I think) the ships in the sim have gone from pretty good at defending itself to having the skills of Neo from the Matrix. The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world. VFA41_Lion Posted January 17, 2012 Author Posted January 17, 2012 No way you're going to take down the Kuznetsov with an A-10...
Essah Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 No way you're going to take down the Kuznetsov with an A-10... Actually....:music_whistling: back in Flaming Cliffs 1 days I took down Kuznetzov with an A10a, divebombing it from very high up with a bunch of MK84. Not sure if that's still possible, but worth a try. just make sure you are out of range of it's SAM's
Inseckt Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 I also took it with A-10A in FC1. Just load up two of the biggest bombs, then fly directly behind it at an height of approx 3-6 ft. While using CCRP, pop up right before and drop two. It uses some time from radar acquisition is established to actual missile launch, so I sometimes got away with it, and the bombs did the rest... Boberro Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 I remember good days sinking 3-4 OHP per one sortie :D I took few MK-84 and few MK-82 plus 6 or 9 Mavericks. During flight I was below about 27 feet, then missiles could not hit me at all but I had to be careful against ship's AA guns - in this case I had to attack from other angle. They couldn't fire guns too then :D Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D ಠ_ಠ ツ
Tailgate Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Any decent carrier group would have their fleet defense fighters airborne. Good luck in a solo A-10. ;)
Depth Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Any decent carrier group would have their fleet defense fighters airborne. Something similar to this? Only 2 air-to-air missiles on your hog though (unless you ditch the jammer), so you have to take out most of the migs with the cannon. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
EtherealN Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Well, no, fleet defence fighters wouldn't be trying to fly fingertip with the carrier. :P They'd intercept things to such ranges that not even ASM's get launched. ;) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester
july865 Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 i agree with etherealn. when you own a $$50billion piece of hardware your stand-off range better be dam good. i have no rl experience but i bet its in the hundreds of miles. if you like the russian version of the carriers defenses, i wonder what the ronald reagan would be like if ED would model it. ED, would you?? Asus x99, i7 5930k, 32g mem, MSI 1070GTX, 970 Samsung M.2, LG 35in Ultra-Wide, TrackIR 4 Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Jona33 Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Yes, killing a dozen migs is very easy. Especially since if you're being picky then those would actually be Su-33's or Mig-29K's, the one that can carry 8 adders. Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing
Tailgate Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 I've been thinking about putting together a Fleet vs Fleet mission (ships only) and observe the outcome. :D
