PoleCat Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 (edited) Wake up America! Wake up america! There are two bills that congress is planning to pass that will change the way the interent works in a fundamental way. Can you say...censorship with sprinkles of corporate and governement control? The Bills are called SOPA and PIPA. Read about them and then ACT! I have blacked out my business web site for today in support of stopping these bills from moving forward. These two pieces of legislation threaten to: Require web services to monitor what users link to, or upload. This would have a chilling effect on innovation; Deny website owners the right to due process of law; Give the U.S. Government the power to censor the web using techniques similar to those used by China, Malaysia and Iran; and Undermine security online by changing the basic structure of the Internet. Your fundamental freedoms are once again at stake. WAKE UP!. Move it or lose it before you have no voice! Out Edited January 18, 2012 by PoleCat http://www.104thphoenix.com/

PoleCat Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 Question is not if, but when. Sooner or later it will be voted through. People prefer to watch Dancing with the Stars, crying on The Bold and beautiful than looking at some boring law papers acts. Yes once they see they can no longer do what they want and enjoy fundamental freedom any longer on the internet it will be too late. The 1% are cowards and are now very frightened by social media. They want to control everything. Control the internet, stifle freedoms. Sound extreme? Take a good hard look and see if I am speaking the truth. P.S. Don't bother with the purple koolaid over at Fox either. If you are looking for facts there you will find not but propaganda and lies. If you seek "news" and information there you are already lost and helping to carry water for those that will use it to drown you. A recent poll showed that people who get their news from FOX are less well informed than those who watch no news at all. Vekkinho Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 I guess our privacy is already compromised, further actions are completely stripping users naked. I even avoid Facebook and any other "social networking" service simply because having many "facebook" friends from my different groups like my work, interests and hobbies doesn't mean I want them to mingle. For instance, why would anyone from my work know anything 'bout anyone from my virtual FC squadron and see into the topics we're dissing bout... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

PoleCat Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 (edited) Amen, It seems that the other options aren't much better... True journalism is almost dead in this country. News should be boring! As it stands now all we get is "exciting" gossip. Give me some damn facts! This is also incorrect. There is fact based professional journalism still alive and well all over the USA it is just nowhere near found on FOX. There is no other network even close to this bad. It is kind of funny because it is always this network that is calling people socialists and Nazis and for some reason the propaganda it produces is closer than any other network in the USA to the type of propaganda spewed by Hitler’s Nazi Germany against the Jews. They are race baiting and enraging the ignorant masses to turn them against and scapegoat large swaths of minorities and the poor who they want you to believe are taking everything from you. Liars. Nothing could be further from the truth. Personally I find the unabashed way the republican candidates were spewing their racist garbage on the FOX debate simply disgusting. The people that applaud them are even worse. Animals. In the face of such ignorance, such insanity, such rage, such hate, and such greed......there must be hope. Grimes Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Copyright law needs a re-think, plain and simple. It originated in an era when information took weeks or months to travel throughout the world. Now anyone with internet access can see something as minuscule as a single post on a forum nearly the instant it is posted. The purpose of copyright law is to give the content creator the right to make money off of what they create over a set period of time before their content enters public domain. Why is it that as technology allows information to travel faster, the laws have been changed to lengthen the time a work stays under copyright? Shouldn't it be the other way around or at least stay mostly static? The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world.
