Oh happy days! At the time I was i/c of European development at Mindscape/SSI. I had to convince the US Board of Directors of Mindscape/SSI that we should publish Flanker. "But we have never published a flight sim before and you want to publish a Russian aircraft, you must be mad!

I got my way.

I remember getting Flanker 1.2 with my first joystick for my new PC - hadn't a clue what I was doing and I spent hours just flying under powerlines enjoying how it felt in the sky (something I still do :) )

Then, years later, I remember walking into a game store and seeing Falcon 4.0 on the shelf, "I gotta get that!" I thought. Falcon 1 was my first sim on my Atari ST and I loved it. Took it and was about to walk to the counter.... then I spied, in the corner, right at the bottom, Flanker2.0. Hmmmm, I remembered how good Flanker felt throwing it around the sky with smoke trails everywhere.

So the choice, F4 or F2, was on a whim, F2. Best choice I've ever made. The only bad thing was F2 killed just about every other non-ED sim for me (except Il2) as the flight models felt too basic.

Thanks Jim for you persistence :)

I remember Flanker too, I'd like team picture in front of CRT monitors and school wall writing table :)

This game was my dream when I had read review of it. So fresh, so new :)

Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D

Never got it.. wish I did though.

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

Flanker was the best back then (in terms of performance, modelling, and terrain).

It seems though, DCS World has the same performance, and terrain!

By supporting DirectX 11 and multi CPU - GPU, it will be the best engine for today's market.

Let's fly together for the sake of peace :)

Flanker! One of the best sims ever made. And many people to this day claim that the flight model was much better than anything IL-2 was able to present.

Any chance we can get more... "Flanker spirit" in FC3? I'd like to see the cobra back. :)

Aaah, memories :) My first sim on my first PC. Flanker 2.0 was equally awesome in terms of flight feeling, graphics, sound, cockpit as it was awful in environment*, stability, AI and damage modeling. I still enjoyed it though. I was playing it for a year or so and I think it was one of my 3 games in that period of time.

*if someone wines about DCS being sterile he sheould fire up Flanker 2.0! :)
