I'm sure I'm not alone here. If it were not for the lack of twist for rudders, I'd probably make the sacrifice and by the thing. Being less than a hard core enthusiast I just don't want to add and use pedals. Matter of fact I quite like the twist feature. I checked out the F65 Saitek and they did it. Guess that's where I'm headed.:noexpression:

You referring to the Cougar or Warthog? In both instances there's just no way that they can dumb it down enough to incorporate a twist-rudder I would have thought - the build quality precludes it.

I would have to agree about the Warthog. I can't see how they could have added twist without sacrificing the accuracy.

I never was too fond of the twist when I was using my X52, but that is just me.

well , the real thing doesn't twist and this control is a replica. given the throttle bothers to hold less then crucial switches (how often do you use motor or fuel cut off. i never did.) to conform to the prototype the twist would look out of place.

but i do agree about pedal sentiment. i got used to twist so much that flying with those seemed awekward. for me at least it took quite some time to relearn, i think i'm still getting used to it.

There's a "TM t.flight hotas x" model which is even better than a twisty, It has two rockers on throttle unit, which are used for rudder.

Notice that HOTAS X have two option to control rudder, by twist stick or with rocker switchs in throtle handle.

"Dual-system aerodynamic control: by rotating handle (with integrated blocking system) or by progressive tilting lever."

Wow, guess I am really alone here. Lol. No matter. That Hotas x is really no different than my X 3D. 12 buttons. And I found out the Saitek runs around 5 bills too so I'll prolly be just sticking with what I've got.

I don't really see the issue. If using the "F65" (I suppose you meant X65F http://www.saitek.com/uk/prod/x65f.html) then the lack of twist in a pricy hotas system like that is quite obvious. Well, at least given the ambition of realism. But then you also get a whole lot of fancy buttons and dual throttle (if that's what you're after). On the - a lot - cheaper THFX you can chose whether you want to use twister or not as you can lock it and/or use the rocker on the throttle instead! Alternatively later go for the pedals. Regarding buttons you can always sacrifice one or two as modifiers doubling up the mapping. Dual throttle is then, unfortunately, a no go.

Some people would argue "plastic" and "durability" but that's more a question on taste and style rather than function - search the forum and see your self. Junior has spoken!

And I suppose so it is for many (or most) of us that upgrade. The "realism" somewhat being a driving factor. Then again I couldn't help picturing the engineers at Kamov: "Hey, maybe we should put the rudders as a twist on the cyclic next time!". I for one admire people that can fly BS with twist. Utterly it's about experience and fun in the game - realistic or not.

I avoided buying the Saitek X52 specifically for this reason (that and what they did to the head of the stick). I loved the rudder on the fingertips of the X35-45 throttle, as it put the control on the two fingers that weren't doing anything. If you're going to drop a dime on the Warthog, just get some pedals. Most of them are good for other things, like racing sims, as well.
