Is there any way, when playing single player, to tell your wingman to attack your SPI, I dont know what group ID to input, and the command to issue, and is the procedure the same as multi player? thanks in advance.

That's not true, he's also allowed to individually list everything he sees 115 nautical miles away during takeoff.

I don't give him any munitions though, I just like the extra company for when that AWACS guy creeps me out.

It'd be REALLY nice if he could send me *HIS* SPI for a change!

A wingman is only allowed to say three things. They are:

"2"

"Lead, your'e on fire!"

"I'll take the fat one."

Close its " And save the fat one for me"

Ive started trying to use the "engage with" commands but am finding them frustrating.

1/2 the time wingman says "unable" or "negative". Makes me want to open up on him with the canon! What are the correct, foolproof steps to getting your AI wingman to follow you orders?

I've even tried hooking him and hitting the "send" in tad.. still the same. So I attack, on the next try with different target (spi) he will comply.. arghgh

I gave up with using a wingman (unless its online) as I just never get it to work the way I want. I know it is user error on my part but as I see it I have two choices.

1. I do the killing

2. Send wingman to do the killing

I know what I prefer.

But I will have to .... when time permits // and I remember // to sit down and try to use a wingman properly. Would be interesting to see what people do to get the desired result.

Even in the instant missions you barely have enough ammo to do it alone..

I have had a few times where I managed to exhaust my wingmans ordnance before having to use mine, but mostly he is useless!

Yes, would be cool to tell the wingman to do the JTAC task and you clean up the remants..

look forward to hearing comments on the proceedure

You can see his SPI on your TAD.

Nate

Yeah, but as far as I've seen, he only broadcasts it for stuff I told him to kill in the first place. I'd want his SPI on something I didn't see so I can go kill it myself.

Although, now that I think about it, I could probably have him engage targets of opportunity, hook his SPI and call him back before he gets the weapons off the rack... I'll have to try that next time.

Maybe if he's unable to follow the order, this can mean he just not have the weapon you have ask him to use: no more mav. or bomb etc.., try a different one.. I dont know but he follow my order easely in general.

Yes that is quite common, also he has to detect the target before attacking - if he can't see it for whatever reason - he won't attack. However this is a slight bug, in that he should fly toward/scout the area around the SPI himself to detect targets when given the command - he doesn't do that presently.

I also have the problem.. The wingman often detect the wrong target. when he should engage air defence, he attacks any air defence 5miles next to my spi. although the target is directly on my spi:doh:

They are still dumb as a sack of hammers. We all know that after the BUK radar is down, you need not waste munitions on the missle batteries. But Winggie, no. He has to ignore the real threat and go and blow up all the BUKs.

I had a guy get stuck in a loop repeating "Two, wheels up" I couldn't even tell him to do something different, I would hit the radio command, and it would have to wait for his loop to end. After him saying it about 50 times, I Finally got in an RTB command.

He replied "Roger, Two, wheels up. Two, wheels up" and kept going till I killed the mission.:joystick:

I've experienced this, as well as the very confused JTAC folks who tell me they have an assignment, only to tell me to ABORT ABORT ABORT! When they explain that they have a new assignment, that one is automatically ABORT ABORT ABORTed. This cycles continues indefinitely whether or not I respond, even when I tell them I'm bailing out. Something along the lines of, "ok, safe travels...ABORT ABORT ABORT!"
