Wow, they revive the Janes brand name for this?! Well, there goes everything they used to say about Janes being at least somewhat concerned with realism.

The only positive thing that might come is, perhaps, some person, after playing this, might want something more and stumble upon DCS.

They done what codemasters done with the OFP name..

KILLED IT.

But didn't EA hold the licanse for Janes??

But at the end of the day it is still a console game.

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

I credit Jane's Fighters Anthology for hooking me on flight sims. F-15 and the Longbow series put a hankering for button pushing in me. If it weren't so difficult to get the games running again (I have to build a new step-down comp) I'd probably play them all the time.

Console gamers know nothing of simulation action, something I learned long ago when I played Crimson Skies 2 on X-box. That was an affront to all that was decent.

They shouldn't have tarnished Janes good name, they should have called it what it is, HAWX3.

Anything to make a quick buck these days.

There are a few more console flight 'sims' due out in the coming months but I am sure they are just more of the same with different visuals.

Of course when the publishers are Mad Catz (Damage Inc. Pacific Squadron WWII), Konami (Birds of Steel) and City Interactive (Combat Wings: Great Battles of WWII) you don't expect much in the first place.

I wouldn't have minded so much if they used any other name but Jane's. Now it's just an insult.

Unfortunately, that was just a matter of who negotiated the right deal (or could afford to pay).

After watching this, I felt violated....

:puke:

Besides the obviously non-existing FM, the graphics suck and had painful shortcomings (jumpy streets at 00:38, exactly the same (straight vertical) effects for every impact, etc).... :no_sad:

It's a console game plane and simple.

^^ can you see what I did there....

I remember the WWII Fighters from JANE'S.

Hey, i was 9 or 10, i think, when i got this, but hey, it kicked ****ing asses for me.

On every plane in the sim, there was a gallery with like guns, engine etc. on the aircraft and about 5 to 10 mins of voice recording telling you all you need to know about, for example, the engine of the plane.

Hell, i felt fantastic flying this and had a shitload of fun.

I still do and yes it is. Too bad I have such a hard time getting F-15 to run....

It's not the fall that gets you. It's the Godawful sudden stop at the end.

I wonder how many people who remember the old Jane's sims will run out and buy this before realizing what it is

Hopefully, the fact that it is available on the Xbox and PS3 along with the PC will give them a clue.

Jane's Advanced Strike Fighters

OH Lord, remember when the logo 'Jane's' on the box of a PC sim was the guaranty of hardcore and satisfactory experience.

Now, there is this:
