Hi! new guy here with 3 questions:

1.How do I best use the trim function? (If I constantly push the trim button works great in flight, but when land it's like the heli is "dancing"-if I don't push it , I can land very good, but in flight manoeuvring is slower);

2. I downloaded a mod called "green Skval".and I don't have any idea how to install it;

3.where do I find trains in the menu?and how can I put it exactly on the railway?( because when editing on map you can see only a thin line-the same thing with trucks-it always go near the road)

I know I ask a lot but any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks very much!

First of all you have a great flight manual. Read everything about the trim and also check here:

Most of your answers are there. Trim is there to help you and knowing how it works is the key to successful piloting.

For mods there is an app called Modman 7.3. Search it here or on google and also find the BS2 update.

Use flight director for landing combined with all AP channels turned on. Flight director disables the autopilot authority so it will no longer work against you if you want to keep a new heading, pitch or bank angle without having to trim for every new attitude. Dampening function for corresponding AP channels still works with FD on.

I actually always use it when not in route/hover mode. In real-world though, the trimmer is held down and then released in the new desired attitude. For landing this attitude changes a lot so I suggest you use the FD at least in that case.

Grap yourself a coffee/beer or whatever , and make sure you have a minimum of one hour without disturbance....

Start DCS-BS windowed (so you can check newly learned things) and read Einstein's AP guide....

FD on for landing? OMG No! Good luck with that and all the advice you receive.

It is not as hard as some people make it out to be. Just let the trimmer do the work and don't over control. Use RCTL ENTER to learn how it works.

just don't throw a fit over this whole essay just because you are not in common with one thought how it should be done - a example:

...(and using the FD for pin-point landings, it isn't really uncomfortable for me...sometimes)

Einstein's excellent write up is just to get a overall understanding how the AP works. - how to use the functions is still up to you.

as Nate did wrote. - It's a matter of taste and skill. (...and controller)

Yeah, and I simply love how the whole forum wakes up when the constant "trim issue" reapares! :lol:

I hardly trim at all - not even on hover (well, ok somtimes). But then I like aerobatics and find it hard in a loop or roll to "feel" the chopper in those relatively fast maneuvers! :pilotfly: Mostly I use it in route mode but that's just about it.

There's a RL video on YT where the pilot trims like crazy! Maby you can find it - it's good inspiration! :thumbup:

If i were in a real Ka-50, i would also trim like mad, clicking all the time.

But unfortunately, im at home, with my HOTAS without FFB.

I use the "push-manouver-release" technique. I let the AP work FOR me, not AGAINST me.

That's the most important philosophy that people need to learn. Can be a bit of challenge but you just need to fly it into your muscles.

Nice video!

I guess he'd get his hand tired quite soon if he wouldn't trim the hell out of the black shark :P

Failure is the mother of all success.

A nice vid! Though he doesn't seem to trim during the "aerobatics" (at least not as far as I can hear). But damn that engine! Is he yelling or is it me!! Or flying with open door? :lol: If it were a civilian chopper I'd almost call it an work environment issue.

Yeah, playing with a 22 million dollar toy.. "Hey, lets take her out for a spin!"

What do you expect from an russian 80ies attack helicopter??

The ride quality of an mercedes S-class??? The noise level of an A380??

Well, I don't know when the video was taken but the KA-50 is still in use today, much like the Apache, and for a 22 million dollar piece one would perhaps expect improvements even in a such area over the years (even if obviously considered less prioritized). Just not mush use having deaf pilots the way I see it, that's all.

I have never sat in running attack helicopter but even in military transport helicopters I could not imagine not using ear protection. They also fly often with doors open so it gets loud. Changing a headset inside a running helicopter doesn't hurt but is very unpleasant at least. You can actually hear what he says there. I had to scream right into someones ear if I wanted to say something without intercom.

He is using the trim button - but he keeps pressing it down constantly for longer periods-

so he has full control and he is not fighting the AP while doing this manoeuvres.
