I'm currently using facetrackNoIR on a PS3 eye toy camera (Oh yes like a boss) http://facetracknoir.sourceforge.net/home/default.htm , it is good to an extent but I find it a pain to get the settings correct and it hard to zoom in and out with your head.

Is TrackIr 5 with the pro clip really worth it? Where can I purchase it from in the UK?

I've never tried FreetrackNOIR myself (no webcam), so I can't really say how much of a difference there is (or isn't) in ease of use, but I have to say I absolutely love my TrackIR4, even without pro clip, definitely worth the money. (Though the cap can get annoying so the clip is probably not a bad idea either.) The TrackIR5 is pretty much the same, only better (wider FoV etcetera), so I can't expect it to not be awesome as well.

No! Stay away from it to save your soul ! - It's the pure evil and full of witchery... even for protestants!

Not long ago you would be burnt at the stake when using it!

Agreed 100%. The pro-clip is needed for me because of lighting conditions in my room. And because wearing a cap with my headset is VERY uncomfortable.

I couldn't justify the price so I went with the TrackIR 4 with the Track Clip Pro. It works flawlessly.

I think there are only two dealers in the UK that stock it.

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

Regarding the trackclip pro, there are a couple of things you can take into consideration:

- Lighting conditions

- Comfort

Re lighting conditions: if there are windows behind you, and you've got curtains open all the time and that kind of stuff, the standard trackclip will have severe difficulties. This is because if you use the trackclip, the trackir is sending an IR signal and looks for the reflection. So you can imagine that if the TIR is bombarded with sun light, it will go berserk. Also, glasses could be troublesome (essence to could).

Regarding comfort: Here we have several sub chapters so to speak: the wire, and headset comfort.

Re the wire: A (extra) wire will come of your headset. If your already using a headset, you can velcro the two wires together, so it's basically 1 wire again. If using a wireless headset, you will have a "wired" again, unless you fix some batteries to your headset to power the trackclip pro (the trackclip pro's wire is only for power).

Also, the standard trackclip has to go on a cap. The caps I have, have one of those buttons on top, on the exact same spot as my headset rests on my head. You can imagine the discomfort :P

Right, I think that's all I have to comment regarding the trackclip pro. I hope this was of some help :)
