Kenan Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 Since FC3 is supposed to be a "light" sim, why not make all cockpits semi-clickable ie. gear lever, master arm switch, flaps, radar screen brightness and other "obvious" avionics systems common in all (or most) flyable aircrafts which in theory at least, shouldn't require extensive research? I'm not talking about doing the whole thing (which is almost impossible due to many reason) but enough to give virtual pilots some sense of actual control over what's going on in the cockpit. We had Lomac, then we had FC1, then we had FC2..I think it would be nice if the third "generation" of Flaming Cliffs had this little "touch". Of course I'm not holding my breath for this as I'm sure it might not be an easy task (possibly would ED have to remodel the 3D cockpits) but man can dream right? :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Commanding Officer of: 2nd Company 1st financial guard battalion "Mrcine" See our squads here and our . Pilotasso Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 You know people, when you give a leg theyll going to ask and then curse you for not giving the whole cow. :D 1 .
Frostie Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 The start of an idea is there in the Su-25 vanilla with the waypoint buttons switching on/off on the lower right panel, so why not go the whole hog and make all the relevant switches move and then step to the next level of making them clickable. I would be rather surprised if adding the feature of reacting to clicks the way it works in DCS wouldn't require a rework of the cockpits in the DCS cockpit engine which won't happen for sure.. Maybe some "hack" solution might be done since the clickable objects would be rather sparse and far apart(e.g. by defining some areas around the clickable handle and calculating the pointer position related to the view and resolution). i386DX40@42 MHz w/i387 CP, 4 MB RAM (8*512 kB), Trident 8900C 1 MB w/16-bit RAMDAC ISA, Quantum 340 MB UDMA33, SB 16, DOS 6.22 w/QEMM + Win3.11CE, Quickshot 1btn 2axis, Numpad as hat. 2 FPH on a good day, 1 FPH avg. Would mean lots of new code for every jet, semi-3d pits, which all equals more delays and more work for FC3, which would mean each aircraft would essentially be its own module, meaning more $$$ and less time spent on other projects like patches and DCS: Next. Don't count on it. Chizh mentioned that work had begun on a 3D cockpit for the F-15, but plans for it are unknown at this time. i7 7700K | 32GB RAM | GTX 1080Ti | Rift CV1 | TM Warthog | Win 10 "There will always be people with a false sense of entitlement. FLANKERATOR Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Last ED's newsletter mentions "fun NEW features in work" for FC3. We are getting some new stuff on the way, maybe click-able buttons, maybe something else, and in all cases, it sounds like an added-value. Fingers crossed. jp203000 Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 I failed to figure out what kind of new features for a "sim" can be described as funny, does anybody got some idea?
jp203000 Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 (edited) Yeah ,you got it . ED is good at word games and always made our Non- native English speakers confused. Edited April 11, 2012 by jp203000
PeterP Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 (edited) I just post this to bring this thread back on topic*: click here > < to find out more about the meaning of it. *now it will be very hard to derail this thread even more - so every new posting will bring this thread a little closer "on track" again. ogata321 Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 I failed to figure out what kind of new features for a "sim" can be described as funny, does anybody got some idea? Paintball guns instead of the GAU-8 for the A-10? And maybe a monkey instead of a human in the cockpit ? Or even arnold schwarzenegger saying "I'll be back" after you eject :D:D
falcon_120 Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 What have been exactly said about a f-15 3d cockpit? Certainly I'd love something like that.
