jmod Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 (edited) MilViz has released: http://www.milviz.com/fs/item.php?id=F-15E I don't know when IRIS Simulations can release its F-15E! What about DCS: F-15E Strike Eagle? Edited November 27, 2011 by jmod Let's fly together for the sake of peace :)
Phantom88 Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 I bought the Milviz product when it was released,I thought the model was good but my FPS were terrible, lower than the Flight1 Mustang in fact. I ended up returning the product through the Flight1 wrapper system. To be fair I believe Milviz are working on a patch to address incorrect textures that are loaded in the VC causing the Brutal FPS. IRIS however looks to be taking their time in development testing and doing things right. Patrick
Razorback Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 The sounds are great !!! Much more better than DCS A-10 !
jazjar Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 What ruined it for me is when the guy clicked to contact the tower, and I got a look at that out of place FSX menu. Please, ED, do this! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Rainmaker Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 Quite a few inaccuracies to that model from a technical standpoint...
menendezdiego Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 I was on the BETA team for this bird, and yes a patch is almost complete. Regards, Diego
diveplane Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 The sounds are great !!! Much more better than DCS A-10 ! not for long https://www.youtube.com/user/diveplane11 DCS Audio Modding.
Stretch Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 Yeah, if this is VRS quality, I'll buy it. genbrien Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 Did they fix the FPS Issue? Is it the same as with the Superbug or worse? Phantom88 Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 In the initial release of the Milviz F-15E there is an admitted Bug in the VC that kills FPS with the HUD on,Lots worse than VRS SuperHornet, but this is a BUg they know about and are fixing. Patrick
menendezdiego Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 Yep, there were a whole bunch of textures in the cockpit that were not needed, i.e. you'd never see them unless you did some snooping around haha. She is much more FPS friendly now, though she's always ran just fine on my system. Regards, Diego
Phantom88 Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 Fantastic Diego Thx for the great news!........Awesome shot!!! Patrick
jmod Posted January 16, 2012 Author Posted January 16, 2012 Eventually, IRIS F-15E Strike Eagle was released, and I don't know how to compare it with MilViz F-15E! Which one do you think has better FM? Let's fly together for the sake of peace :)
aaron886 Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 I haven't have a lot of time to test the Iris F-15E yet, but it seems a little "funny." Lacking in available pitch rate at moderate maneuvering airspeeds (300-400 KTAS) and simultaneously capable of flying at 35 knots... 65 degrees alpha. :D That said, it could be worse. I'd like to test it against the MilViz variant... anyone have both?
HiJack Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Eventually, IRIS F-15E Strike Eagle was released, and I don't know how to compare it with MilViz F-15E! Which one do you think has better FM? I'l will order the MilViz F-15E when the patch is out.
ggerman Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 I have both... They are both equally impressive and there are things I like about each one: Milviz external model looks a little more realistic to me.. something about the textures just makes it seem a little more "solid". Since installing the SP 1.1, one thing I don't like about the Milviz version is the daytime afterburner representation.. It's just kind of "blah" with no depth or dynamic nature to it. It's very dark orange and it just doesn't look like an afterburner should look. The night burners are, by contrast, nice but WAY too bright. I think they're going to work on the afterners a little more. FPS with the Milviz version (for me) are just fine. The flight model is just a little over-powered, but I rememdied that by changing the thrust scalar from 1.0 to 0.85. The sounds are spot-on! There's a "quick start" option in the cockpit for those who want to load up and go without waiting for GC alignment or to bypass the start checklist. The Iris model, on the other hand, has superb afterburners, however if you engage the burners, you'll over-temp the engine within 30 seconds and lose both engines to engine fires. So far, that's killed almost every flight I've made. The flight model on this one seems a little over-powered, as well. I do like the MFD screens in the cockpit of the Iris bird just a little bit better than the Milviz version. They look crisper and much more realistic. Same for the HUD. The sounds are good, but I think the Milviz sounds are just a little better. FPS on the Iris version are very good as well. The startup procedure is pretty simple, however there's no "quick start" option.. so it'll take about 5 minutes to run through the start checklist and get GC alignment before you can taxi. The VC in both versions are works of art! Very well done and on par with the Superbug (and even the DCS A-10C!) Unfortunately, I haven't delved into the weapons systems of either one yet... I just haven't had the time to go that far. But from what I hear, they both have their strengths and weaknesses. Both, however, do push the limits of FSX and are excellent! I honestly can't say that I prefer one over the other yet... but once the SPs are out and I've gone deeper into the systems, I'm sure a leader will emerge.
HiJack Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 ...Since installing the SP 1.1, one thing I don't like about the Milviz version is the daytime afterburner representation.. That is the "beta" version of the SP? The VC in both versions are works of art! Very well done and on par with the Superbug (and even the DCS A-10C!) Glad to hear this :D By the way, do you have the SuperBug also? (HJ)
Vekkinho Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 MilViz has released: http://www.milviz.com/fs/item.php?id=F-15E I don't know when IRIS Simulations can release its F-15E! What about DCS: F-15E Strike Eagle? Cockpit instruments and displays seen a bit cartoonish... Just my 2 cents! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
aaron886 Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 That is the "beta" version of the SP? Glad to hear this :D By the way, do you have the SuperBug also? (HJ) I have the Superbug and this Iris F-15E so far doesn't quite match the systems complexity VRS managed. (Especially not the flexibility afforded by the external "ACM" software that manages the Superbug's stores, fuel, system failures, additional key presses, and external flight control system.) As an aside, I have a pretty weak old computer (amazing how quickly that happened,) and I see better performance with the Superbug than the Iris F-15E. In fact my framerates in the F-15E have been pretty poor across the board. With TacPack and subsequent Superbug updates on the way, if you're looking for a top-shelf fighter aircraft in FSX, it's still the VRS Superbug.
HiJack Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Cockpit instruments and displays seen a bit cartoonish... Just my 2 cents! The MilViz one?
