The module of Black Shark 2 upgrade version will be released later after release of the final versions of the modules.

Shame...

After the release of final versions? That's a really bad move, as said before. I would never buy a standalone version now for a product that I already have and paid for it..

I hope ED changes that and release the next beta with BS2 upgrade support.

Thats not my case because most of the times I cant wait to enjoy this releases and they know that.

So sadly I will end buying a product that I already have because I was excluded only for own an upgrade instead of the standalone version.

Why waste your time. You're only going to have to download the actual release again anyway. This is just a beta.

Well, one could always make an online petition for prioritizing BS2 upgrade...Id sign it. Personally, Id like to know the WHY it was left out in the first place, and Id be satisfied knowing that answer.

Eagle Dynamics is in England what makes you think a petition would work, besides.

They'll have it figured out soon.

It wasn't done intentionally, just a side effect from the pulling out the files and folders making a module more than likely.

Then you're just encouraging more of those actions..

If you look closely, in their statement they say they are going to look into that only after a final module is released. A lot of people might go against me on this one, but I think it's just lack of respect with the people that have been supporting DCS since BS1..

If it's a slight difference in timing, I don't mind. If it's a month or two I'd be annoyed.

I'm pretty disappointed to see a post that I made to tell people of something good and thank ED has turned into a further 2 pages of griping and moaning.

Be realistic. This is a beta and ED don't have a magic wand. You could even dip your hands in your pockets and pay for the full version; it is very reasonably priced! I assume as you already have a version of BS2, none of you are poor as you must be able to afford decent PCs and joysticks.

I bought the full versions of BS1 and BS2 to avoid the hassle of upgrading. For a total of $70, I've had several hundred hours of entertainment. I'd say that's outstanding value and again thanks to ED.

most of you are missing the point

Most owners of the BS2 upgrade obviously are also owners of BS1 and have been with ED the longest or longer than most others.

They are passionate about ED and their products, and as such want to participate in the beta of BS2 DCS WORLD, They are some of the most experienced pilots in the KA-50 so have the potential to be able to spot and report bugs.

People are going to be upset, they have had something they are passionate about denied for them.

When ever you segregate or split a community bad feeling and disappointment will follow, its human nature.

Lets hope the wait is not to long for the ones who have been left out.

... so just wait for the released version and enjoy good old BS2 whilst you do :-)

Kinda what I said, but none of us would be upset if we didnt already pay 80 bucks to have BS2. Some of us even went through the trouble to get copies from Russia (like I did) when BS first came out. I dont really much care about what happened, I just get the idea we were left out in the cold on a simple fact that we paid for the upgrade instead of the full version.

Ok, you spent 80 bucks for BS1 and BS2 total. Some of us spent 60 bucks on those dvds from Russia, as well as 50 bucks for BS1 download, and 20 for the BS2 update. Upset? A little. I flew BS2 for the very first time tonight, and Ive had it for 3 weeks now, and I would probably not have noticed BS2 didnt work in World had someone else not pointed it out. But Im not upset since I didnt pay for World. Just wondering that wtf question, are they really that different?

DCS World Upgrade/Patch Dissappointment

For more than 10 years now (beginning with "Flanker") I have been a die hard user of the lockon & DCS flight sim product line. So much so

that over the years I have purchased multiple copies of their programmes as an act of "support" for the product. So you might understand just

how snubbed and rejected ... no Dis-Regarded I feel when I read that DCS plan for patching/upgrading their current customers to the "DCS

World format" is absolutely their LAST PRIORITY.

Treating their core customer base with such disdain is both callus and insulting.

The change of format to the "DCS World" model is a truely massive step change in the business model for DCS simulators, providing them

with the opportunity to totally overtake the otherwise lack luster alternatives in flight simulation. If this move works well, DCS can march boldly

into a very bright future, securly holding the No1 position as producer of mainstream flight sims for the not so general public.

I am saddened that DCS have acted in a way that suggests that they as a company have little regard for the generally very loyal customers

that have in no small way contributed to their successfull rise to prominance. PS please forgive the poor grammer and spelling but at this

moment I Am ONE SEETHING ANGRY OGRE.

I'm far from feeling angry about this whole thing. However, it really does not seem fair on ED's part. Had they actually mentioned this is due some technical problems, it would have understandable. Though I can't see what problem there could possibly be. Right now it seem to me as if they are trying to get some people to buy BS2 again.

Though I can't see what problem there could possibly be....

Starforce activation protocol precludes the upgrade keys from being able to be utilized on the DCS:World Beta. In the absence of internal knowledge regarding the workings between ED products and Starforce, nobody can afford to speculate as to possible problems and their attendant solutions.

Bottom-Line is that due to the Starforce activation procedure, upgrade users are necessitated to wait for release.

Is that not good enough?

Ever occur to anyboby that ED are not neccesarily the bad guys here and that contractual obligations preclude activation of the upgrade version install? And no, it's not good business practice to discuss contractual obligations to third-parties before someone brings that particular topic to the fore.

Right now it seem to me as if they are trying to get some people to buy BS2 again.

How can you possibly get someone to buy something which has not yet been released, ie Beta

Yeah I realise your and others' disappointment and express my gratitude for the manner in which you and others have expressed your disappointment to date, ie not necessitating moderator intervention *yet*.

That said, inferring that ED is withholding activation to force sales of a product is ludicrous and such comments are the ones I was referring to as having the beginnings of a witch-hunt, nothing more. I am sure that you and others will agree that said comments are definitely not warranted.

No, that isn't good enough. The paying customer has essentially been shafted by DRM once again. There's a reason that stuff is called Starfarce.

Shafted? Come now, not having access to BETA software hardly qualifies in that regard.

IMO its not good enough.....

That is OK - your opinion is your prerogative.

Still easiest way: Provide upgrade users on dcs.com with BS2-full keys if they show their BS1 keys.

And the financial loss attendant to that? Do you honestly think it's free for ED to obtain and furnish everyone that has an upgrade version with a full-version activation?

Think again.

As said, if one is not privy to the contractual terms between Starforce and ED then one cannot even begin to want to comment on what can and cannot be done, even ignoring for a moment the financial implications.
