The "one man" whose death became the first (of many) intricate steps towards world war was not just any man, though. Now, if Abdullah Gül had been one of the casualties, then perhaps the parallell could be drawn.

Yes, Yes, The Greeks have started the biggest Naval invation some 2900 years ago for the beutifull eyes of Elen of Troy ?or they were ready to do it, but just searching for a reason ?

I'll give you another sad tip. NATO already asking for Suda base in Crete Greece to Join. As It has already done with Lybia, etc Suda base is most valuable for attacking spot and logistics.

So money and conscripts don't really matter... it's gonna be end of days my friends...

There's only a theoretical chance of a nucelar weapon usage. It's like two men stuck in a closed room, each holding a hand grenade. Regardless who throws it first, both are dead.

This is why no nation would launch their nuclear missiles. The moment you fire your missile towards my capital, regardless how many lives you've destroyed, I'll be capable to order my own army to do the same to you. So it's pretty much a no-win situation.

This is why all the nuclear missile silos are placed in remote locations. Not like they're in the cities so if you take out a city, you've taken out the missiles as well.

With the technology we have these days, we're perfectly capable of mass killing ourselves with a good old conventional weapons. Just drop a CBU class bomb over a populated area or a battlefied and that's it..

They are not new. They are old Syrian heli's that were repaired in Russia.

Same happened with Iraqi Floggers in 1990 that were refurbished in ZMAJ - Yugoslavia. These aircraft never returned to Iraq after they invaded Kuwait.

Do you think they are still in ZMAJ...?

Then there's a chance to make a decent DCS module then... ;)

Yes all of Iraqi Floggers were flown to Batajnica AB in summer 1991. None of them ever saw any combat with former JRV & PVO and plans of their return fell apart after Desert Storm. They used to sit on Batajnica tarmac during 1991-99 when some of them were destroyed during NATO OAF. All planes that survived OAF are preserved in museum near Surcin.

Sorry for OT.

Any ideas or official reports on who actually shot Turkish RF-4? Was it the Russians?

That is a simplification of War by Western philosophers received by Clausewitz. War is more complicated and with a lot more of facets than that. Read "A History of Warfare" by John Keegan. This book is written brilliantly.

Edit:

Well, I was rereading about what Keegan wrote and concluded that he is criticized a lot about this position.

In his books he pursues the view of the Man at War. The critics try to assert that he overlooks about politics.
