AI Buddy Lasing

I was wondering if it's possible to get your AI wingman to lase a target allowing you to then use LSS\LST.

It doesnt matter since your TGP to the best of my knowledge can not become DEADEYE. However in the event it is BENT then it can become an issue. If thats the case the damage sustained by the TGP should mean you should attempt to RTB.

 

But it would be nice to have a buddy lase. Not just from your DASH 2 but also from UAVs and all other laser capable aircraft

I haven't tried but if you set it as a FAC it would work presumably.

If you mean Actually as in REAL LIFE. Then yes.

 

It can Laser Spot Track and designate thus your using the same laser codes. Plus if you look at the reapers alone they are dropping GBU-12s so they of course can do it as well. However only later variants of MQ-1 are able to LTD for your SA.

page 31. this is must next to you when flying. However outdated it does not include specs on any MQ series plane or the A-10C for that matter.

Works perfectly well. Though out of 3 tanks, after 2 dead by gbu-12, he sent me on my way.

Set him up as a FAC in the ME.

 

Set up some ground vehicles.

Set up a predator overhead

In advanced waypoint actions for the 1st waypoint set FAC-Assign group

Select the ground vehicles and then select designation method to laser.

Set his callsign and frequency from the set option drop down.

Set up an A-10 with GBU's and TGP and set as player.

Save and fly.

I don't recall, this was a while ago. I just could not establish a stable speed and the lack of stable speed caused the altitude to oscillate (or so it appeared). I'll worry about it when A-10 and World are out of Beta.

Realistically using pred is always out of sight out of mind so the FL18-22 block works well however airspace in OIF and OEF is so saturated nowadays its not uncommon to find preds below angels 10 and be able to make out if its a pred or reaper.

 

At the end of the day the same effect is deliverd.

I´m building a mission in the ME where I want an AFAC flight to buddy lase for me. Is it only the Predator that can do it? Or could I assign an F-16C (with FLIR pod) or an A-10C (with TGP); are they doing the job just as well?

Buddy lasing works just fine. I just made a quick mission to try it out. Didn't use my laser once, and managed to drop a few GBU-12's right on tgt with help from JTAC (lasing tgt).

Hmm I can´t get it to work, neither the Predator or the Hawg...I´m just begining to learn LSS, so I guess I must be doing something wrong in the ME.

 

I did as Jona33 explained. But my TGP can´t find the laser, I even put the FOV over the target, but it still couldn´t find it. The AFAC A-10 first orbited at the assigned path, but after a while departed and started circle over the target - which I belive is a sign that it actually see´s the target.

 

• I put a group of 3 T-80 tanks on a runway
  
• I set up the AFAC flight (MQ-1A / A-10C) near the target area
  
• At the orbit Wp, I also set the FAC-assign group in AdvOp, to mark tgt group with laser
  

• When I fly, I perfom the Fence In
  
• Confirm correct code - 1688
  
• Slave the TGP FOV over the target area
  
• Press the LSS (tried both on HOTAS and MFCD)
  

Nothing happens, I can´t detect the laser, what am I doing wrong here?

If the JTAC has tasked you to use GBU-10 or GBU-12 laser-guided bombs on the target, it will laser designate the target for you. During the 9-line, the laser code that you should search for is listed (1688 as default).

No, I think the ground based JTAC also use a laser if enemy is in line of sight. But the enemy needs to be IN SIGHT! Make a JTAC Invisible and Immortal and place it realy close to the target and try again. ;)
