There were screenshots showing the 1st person artillery having a range/gun elevation scale, but I cannot figure out how to activate it, assuming it's actually in the game right now.

Same here. Can't seem to get the chevron and range to pop-up as per the manual(page 25). Made sure that I hadn't set the target too close either.

Used the M109.

On release day my squaddie was hammering enemy ground forces with paladins. So as far as I know they're working.

Yes F10 fire at point works, one of the first things i checked.

Drove up to a brigde in a humwee, and used the funtion, remember to click on start fireing. You have to wait a little time as artillery have longer reload time and ballistic flight time. Buildings go down fast, bridges takes quite some time to down.

It appears that this may have not made it into the current open beta. Will be in the next one.

Perhaps you guys could check out this video from Arma2.

It is a much better way to model artillery than most the usual way in sims.

Indeed it is, maybe one day we'll see a similar system in DCS, but it won't be for a while. Maybe if we get DCS:Artillery one day.

I'm not sure. I guess it was 10-20Km...

But nevermind Nate, I will test this again today.

Thank you for your help. :)

I had the same issue Dragon. I was either too far or too close. It's easy to see if you're too far because in the editor it shows the maximum range of artillery. But there is no minimum range circle inside the editor so, I placed my artillery just a little inside the maximum range circle and it worked fine after that.

Correct. CA is not meant to be a study simulation of ground combat, but rather a game with a very shallow learning curve. This is true for armor, artillery and AD. Perhaps at a later time we, or 3rd parties, may add study-level modules of CA components.

Mother of God... getting hot and heavy just thinking of the possibilities...

ACE2 for Arma2 is a good example of what could happen as it is a free community mod for Arma2 so if a decent SDK is released perhaps someday someone might do the same for CA.
