joey45 Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 Being an Ex air cadet I've been flying alot. Mainly bulldogs. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. GripenNG Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 I had a ride with the SwAF Sk 60 (SAAB 105) before. We went both high and low - and we passed a Cessna that seemed to be stationary in the air. We did a fly-by really close in front of it...wonder if he was jealous :P [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Snooze-81st-vFS
AlphaOneSix Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 I have roughly 500 hours as a passenger on a chartered 767. :D I only know this number because we were joking about it at dinner tonight. I have about 25 hours of AH-64A simulator time, plus about 3 hours of actual in-aircraft AH-64A time. (I was an AH-64A crew chief in the U.S. Army for several years in the early 1990s.) Counting the flight I just returned from tonight, I have 800 hours as an Mi-17 crew chief /flight engineer/door gunner (this is my "day job"), of which 750 hours have been at night under goggles. Even though I am not a rated helicopter pilot, I have about 10 hours at the controls of an Mi-17. I also recently became a private pilot (single engine piston) but I only have 65 hours as a pilot (Mostly Cessna 172 with some Piper Archer mixed in). I lost track of how many hours I have flown on C130's as a passenger...a lot. At any rate, I'm sure there are several people who will blow my record away....it is neat to list it all out, however.
Pilotasso Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 besides flying in airliners for several times, I flew in a C-130 Once, and a few times did gliders too. It was in one of these flights that I got control for the first and only time in my life. :) .
jdbecks Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 Never flown anything but I've been ferried around whilst I was in the army in the following C17 Hercules Chinook Seaking Gazelle Blackhawk Puma O and a Tristar :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Griffin Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 When I was as a conscript in air force and army aviation as a mechanic I was a passenger in NH90 a few times and once in MD500 which I could control for a couple of minutes. NOE in NH90 was pretty cool from the back but the MD500 was an awesome experience! The pilot took me NOE, very confined space landings and showed me how a helicopter can be very effective in spying on farmers. :D Also flying over fields and have tractors whizz by close below was something that I won't forget! Been a passenger in an Mi-8 and C172. I flew a C152 for 20 minutes and got my name in the logbook once. And also I flew a Finnish F-18 simulator for about 15 minutes. A couple landings were quite rough but nailed the last one. :)
Weta43 Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 Maybe half an hour at the stick of a glider over a couple of flights, 15 min at the stick of a pitts special doing simple aerobatics - rolls, loops, a bit of inverted flight and some cuban 8's (with the pilot talking me through it), he did a snap roll & put it into a spin - all good fun :-) Fly down to Christchurch & up to Auckland as a passenger fairly regularly on commercial flights, passenger down to Nelson & back every couple of months in a Cesna caravan, & twice round the world flying from here to Europe & back as a passenger. The fun of it seems inversely proportional to the size of the aircraft (though some landings in Wellington on windy days have been interesting - people saying prayers & holding hands across the isle :-) Cheers.
