BRooDJeRo Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 (edited) +1 Every attempt in connecting to the masterserver results in a CTD. Attachment: DCS.log Due to multiple problems in using this software for almost 2 years i still like this game, however the problems seem to stack up now towards 'not playable in any way'. Ive been mothballing this software since a couple of months and reinstalled it again after 1.2.1 and am relieved that there is something like an updatesystem. However this doesnt mean that play-problems are instantly solved. Ofcourse i can contact customer support and demand somesort of refund on the current 'licence' to use the DSC software, but that is not where my wish lies. At this moment i wish Ed the best of luck to resolve the major isues. Also i can search and try out workarounds till i grow old, but that is not why i purchased a licence. Its been bought to have fun and relax in my spare time. So, again, good luck. Edited October 3, 2012 by BRooDJeRo
GGTharos Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 There is no work-around that you can use unfortunately. This is a high priority issue for ED, and they too want to see it fixed ASAP as much as you do. BRooDJeRo Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 (edited) Ive just managed to login without a crash. Before the initial masterserver login i set the connection to 'LAN'. For some reason there isnt any sound apparantly..... To be continued. Ps. Thx for your reply GGTharos. Edited October 3, 2012 by BRooDJeRo
GGTharos Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 I thought the 'LAN' work-around wouldn't work, but perhaps I was wrong. If so, at least you can play :) The no sound thing is strange though, we didn't encounter that in testing. BRooDJeRo Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 (edited) I was able to reproduce the crash once. Steps: - Start multiplay with the direct multiplay link - Dont login and set to ADSL 512 - Restart client - Login to masterserver Perhaps it has nothing to do with the settings, the problem is elsewhere and works like the lottery. The soundissue seems to remain after deleting the settings and unplugging the headset. In the singleplayer client sound work fine. The log has for me an unknown entry. 00000.521 INFO SOUND: Using SSE FTZ mode. What does SSE FTZ mode mean? Edit: Using the DCS repair function didnt resolve the multiplayersound issue. I also dont have any issues with sound in any other type of software. Windows doesnt produce any errorlog. Edited October 3, 2012 by BRooDJeRo
ED Team c0ff Posted October 3, 2012 ED Team Posted October 3, 2012 For some reason there isnt any sound apparantly..... From the dcs.log: SOUND: Using device ID:'xxx' Name:'Realtek Digital Output It looks like your default audio device is an onboard sound card which has nothing attached to it (that's why it defaults to digital output). Echo38 Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 C0ff, your communication with the community about this bug is a welcome change from the silence which seems to be the usual policy for game developers. It does much, I think, to improve community morale & confidence in Eagle Dynamics's efforts. I did heavy beta testing work for Rise of Flight, so I've seen a little bit of the frantic scrambling that occurs within the team when a problem does not appear in the beta testing, but manifests in the public version. Cheers.
ED Team c0ff Posted October 3, 2012 ED Team Posted October 3, 2012 The team is extremely small and the product is so complex. Each of us has several major areas of work. I was deep into the autoupdater, and had no attention span for the forum. And this bug is so obscure that we practically shoot in the dark with the fixes. Autoupdater makes the feedback much faster. Echo38 Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 I was referring to other game developers, actually, with my comment about the silence. I've followed a large number of game development communities, and, in my experience, most of them take virtually no effort to inform the community about anything, except when actively trying to generate revenue. You're doing a good job, in my book. (Not to say that the bug doesn't bother me; it does, of course, but I've seen, just from my beta work, that it can be very difficult to hunt something like this down.) 2
MTFDarkEagle Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 Yes Echo38 I echo your comment regarding the "ED-Silence" as we call it in our squadron ;) Very welcome change! :) Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread

redpiano Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 Well the patch they put out yesterday fixed it for me, but now it's crashing again when I click login. EDIT: Oh I see, if you click the multiplayer icon and try to login without first clicking DCS world to update it'll crash, there should be a notification for both icons.
Scooternutz Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 Still crashing on login. Still, after the new update, after a full reinstall, and all of the little tricks that don't work. [sIGPIC]https://drive.google.com/file/d/16rUBmmJR7A3YGZVGPGskxG1XtvulGojJ/view?usp=sharing[/sIGPIC]

Speed Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 Still crashing on login. Still, after the new update, after a full reinstall, and all of the little tricks that don't work. I do not doubt you, but it hasn't happened to me a single time today, not since I installed the update. I've connected at least a dozen times over a 12 hour span. In 1.2.0, I would literally crash 30% of the time when trying to display server list. So either: a) I am lucky b) The problem is much less severe than before c) A combination of both? ??? Anyone else care to comment? Just trying to gauge where the severity of the problem now resides. Intelligent discourse can only begin with the honest admission of your own fallibility. Ditto. I have connected a dozen or so times over the last 5 hours and have not crashed yet. I hope this issue can be resolved for other players as it was encouraging to see as many servers up as there were.
AussieM8 Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 It is believed that 1.2.1.6120 finally fixes the issue. Purg Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 Since installing 1.2.1, I'd say that I would crash 90% of the time when going into MP - was only 5 servers up when I eventually got in there. Since 6120 - probably been in a dozen times including a couple just then to test and not a single crash. Should get around to playing again, some time soon - been waiting for FC3 to get back into the swing of things.
