maturin Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 (edited) I'm on the hunt for more FPS, but there doesn't seem to be much up-to-date info out there. I have been searching around, and but can't find simple answers, such as a clear definition of the Scenes graphics setting. There is at least one tweak guide, but it's for hoary old Black Shark, and I don't even have permission to modify my Config files (can anyone help with that one?) There are several threads on the forums, but I don't want to pick through dozens of pages looking for hints that might not even work with DCS World. So if you would be so kind, post links to any tweak guides I have missed, or share any tricks or mods that are up to date. Finding information on this game is hard when there are so many previous iterations with more distinctive names. Edit: At the moment my game doesn't even draw tree unless I put on high settings, so something is wrong with my understanding of the options. Edited August 7, 2012 by maturin

Shein Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 Funny you post all this, I was about to post a new thread asking the same thing. I just built a new PC, I can run skyrim on max settings, 60 frames per second, but only get 12-17 on the ground with DCS mustang... I know a lot of people said 1.2.0 takes a hit to performance from 1.1.1.1, understandably so since it's still beta, but i was hoping someone had a good FPS tweaks guide... a search yielded the following info to me: -click the low or medium preset options, then change the settings to what you want. Clicking these changes some things "under the hood" that you can't change manually. -TSAA and MSAA are huge performance hogs with the new bushes and trees, those should be first on the chopping block when trying to save frames -do a search for harbors making the FPS drop dramatically, theres some good info in there about modifying the draw distance for structures that helped a lot of people go from 30 to about 70 fps. I don't have the thread on hand I apologize for that. -alt tab-ing at the start of the mission may help. It also fixes the can't click the 'fly' button problem. That's all I got so far. Hope this helps, maybe some more FPS tweaks will be discovered soon and I'm sure the next DCS world patch will address this stuff too!
MegOhm_SD Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 (edited) try this maybe  Back up the options.lua and drop this in...Instructions are included.. If you don't like it you can easily change it back It is said...."this options tweak will vastly improve framerates for those with med to low end pcs, while maintaining semi decent visuals". I can't really vouch for it though...haven't tried it cuz I don't need it.high performance frame rate option settings.zip Edited August 8, 2012 by MegOhm_SD Cooler Master HAF XB EVO , ASUS P8Z77-V, i7-3770K @ 4.6GHz, Noctua AC, 32GB Corsair Vengeance Pro, EVGA 1080TI 11GB, 2 Samsung 840 Pro 540GB SSDs Raid 0, 1TB HDD, EVGA SuperNOVA 1300W PS, G930 Wireless SS Headset, TrackIR5/Wireless Proclip, TM Warthog, Saitek Pro Combat Pedals, 75" Samsung 4K QLED, HP Reverb G2, Win 10

AtaliaA1 Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Maturin The reason I asked about your PC specs is so I could offer the system tweaks you need. Based on your OS and other devices. a game spicific tweak is second on the list of priorities when you are looking to increase frame rates. First do the PC then do the Game. MadMonkey Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 (edited) fps check Whats your FPS? I have about the same system and mine is 5-10 fps at lowest setting...? yeah my fps isn't all that great either I fine tuned it threw nvidea control panel settings & some settings in game threw options just to stop the choppy frames down a tad you may also want to try kegetys D3D antilag v1.01 website: http://www.kegetys.fi/misc/ Reduce input lag with D3D Antilag I thought I'd draw some attention to the excellent little DLL injector by Keijo Ruotsalainen that allows you to adjust the flip queue size, or sometimes referred to as render ahead queue or pre-rendered frames. Both ATI and NVidia control panels allow you to adjust this setting but for the vast majority of times it has no effect as games override the CP setting. This injector however forces the game to use whatever queue size you set. This is great for games that use excessively large queue sizes incurring needless input lag. I have personally found that queue size 1 hits the framerate hard but 2 performs the same as whatever setting the game has by default. You can get the program D3D Antilag 1.01 on the developer's page. It also doubles as a framerate limiter if you want. It works just like the FXAA injector, you just copy the files to the games' exe directory. There's a configuration file antilag.cfg that you can adjust the queue size and possible fps limit from. I don't know how one would use this along with other DLL injectors though. it's an easy install just extract the d3d9.dll & antilag.cfg to your game executable folder whichever version your on lock on, or flaming cliffs 2, or other games I use it on many games. you can fine tune the settings threw the .cfg file open it in notepad or any syntax editor. heres how mine looks: [config] RenderAheadLimit=2 FPSlimit=50 Cfg Setting Notes: FPS Limit (10-200) render ahead limits: If you GPU can bottleneck your CPU = 2 If you GPU has trouble keeping up with your CPU = 0 as always just try one setting at a time threw your gcard control setting software and also threw your game.. tiny changes then test your fps with fraps until your satisfied. if not maybe it's time to get a job & save up some $ for new hardware.. new games require new pc's to run them on.
