Anyone of you guys using AMD-graphiccards for OR? Working?

No ....AMD cards are NOT working!!! Very upsetting . Not on DK1 or 2 ... No acknowledgment from DCS of the problem or ANY mention they are trying to resolve the problem.

What do you mean AMD not working? Is this only for DCS?

Hi guys, sorry for the late answers, went to bed. :) in answer to how to get DCS working with the DK2, I used this work about.

Set the DK2 to ‘Extended Mode’ in the Oculus Config Tool by going to Tools > Rift Display Mode = ‘Extend Desktop to the HMD’

Go to Task Manager > Processes > Scroll down and select ‘wscript.exe’ then click [END PROCESS]

Do the same for ‘OVRService.exe’

Then load DCS World

I made sure the oculus rift tick box was ticked in DCS options.

My display control panel, I have set at 1920 x 1080, extend displays with the Oculus rift in Landscape ( flipped )

All dcs world settings are running on high, no idea of framerate as I didn't check but it was fluid. I will be trying different graphical settings later today as since I can't see more than 5 miles away from the aircraft, not much point in having the program render it. :)

Hope that helps.

Only for DCS...I have Rise of flight working with Tridef very well. FSX is working with Vorpx very well. I had Warthunder working. Have not tried that one in a while..updates may have changed that. I have been a DCS fan since the beginning ...used triple screen 3D monitors for Black Shark 1. I stopped buying modules since the Huey due to Rift and AMD incapability with DCS.

Had a blast with the Huey and p-51. The tracking is fantastic. Resolution is much better but not nearly high enough yet. FOV also needs to be higher (not an easy issue to solve). Colour and contrast are much better.

I had a major issue. Usb cable was not making proper contact. The rift kept turning off. I solved it with a bit of hot glue.

As I'm using extended mode I have another problem. My mouse cursor is working but mouse clicks aren't being recognised. It has to be something simple. I've only had it a couple of hours so I'll probably figure it out.

I tried the A-10. Looks beautiful but not usable for anything other than pleasure flights.

I can't believe ED is cutting off so many people by not having proper AMD support for the Oculus Rift. You would think, regarding Rift integration, it NOT working with 50% of desktop video cards, that fix would be high on their list.

Oh well, I'll be waiting till CV1 regardless I just feel for everyone with DK2 and an AMD card.

I dont think this is a ED Issue... Likely an Oculus VR Issue.

Could be. But considering I've used the Oculus VR with no issues on many other games/demos, I would tend to lean towards it being ED.

is this the same "Black screen" issue as before?

this black screen issue only appeared when ED put in OR support with the tick box before that I had dk1 working using 3rd party software. now even with the box unchecked it won't work for me.

Every update the game gets I hope for a fix for the AMD black screen/oculus issue, it seems nobody cares to acknowledge the problem, they must play test oculus with NVidia.

I'll bet it's something really simple too, when I researched this problem earlier to see if there were any similar issues with other games. I remember reading one post from an indie rift developer regarding a similar issue, is was something to do with one of the commands he had used not being recognized by AMD cards, he changed it and voila it worked.

I got nothing through google or search of Oculus VR Forum,

Unless it was posted in a section I cant see due to giving my account and DK1 to someone else.

.

Frusheen I can tell you that even with DK1 if you use the rift in extended mode the mouse wont work, the mouse cursor is not calibrated correctly if that makes sense.

Strange, my mouse works fine when using the DK2, I can do a full startup in cockpit with no issues. My DK2 is in extended mode, however it is NOT the primary monitor, and Oculus rift is ticked in DCS options.

Its really weird. The cursor is rendered properly. Even when I hit ESC I cannot click on any of the menu items in the rift screen. To launch a mission I have to hit Pause/Break key to start a flight as I can't click on the 'ok' button. I can see the cursor fine its just not recognising the mouse click.

I am using extended mode (Rift is also non primary). I thought it was something simple but I'm really stumped. I've to right click the DCS taskbar icon on my main monitor to exit a flight. When back on the main DCS screen on my monitor the mouse works fine again.

DCS is working great in the DK2 besides this issue.

I slowed the P51 and opened the canopy at a few thousand feet. Leaning and looking out the side of the cockpit is fantastic. I bailed out for fun and that was a real rush as you climb out of the seat and jump!

Little touches like sitting up in your seat and seeing your helmet appear in the rear view mirror or leaning to look around the window pillar in the Huey... Fantastic.

does ALT-TAB to the desktop then bring it back up bring the click-ability back?

Oculus Rift Support Thread

Ok so I spent some time with my DK2 and DCS today and here's my quick review.

First I should say I have had a DK1 from the beginning and have tried just about every demo and game available up till now. VR has become an obsession :).

First off the screen door effect for me is pretty much gone. What's left isn't as much a screen door but a subtle texture to everything. I don't notice it at all anymore while it was really obvious on the DK1 so I'm really happy with how it turned out. I was worried based on all the sub pixel discussions that I'd be disappointed. The only thing that's weird is white text has a rainbow effect around it. That is partially because the chromatic abberation with the new lenses and partially because of the pentile screen.

The good news is I found the displays and gauges readable now. Since I can now lean in I can pretty much read everything. The only exception is the HUD. As you lean in it doesn't get bigger making it always hard to read.

One of the coolest things is now being able to look out the window and sit-up and see the nose of the plane!

The only strange side effect is you can push your face right through the dash. :)

All in all it's amazing! I still need labels to see enemy fighters but otherwise it is so incredibly immersive.
