Was tempted by DK2 but it seems ill be waiting for CV1. Or CV2.

You should buy it regardless unless you cant spare the money right now. You definitely wont be losing money by ordering one,the resale value is insane.I sold my DK1 to fund a DK2(profited 200) I will sell my DK2 whenever DK3/CV1 is announced(probably profit another 2-300 dollars) The only flaw in my example is that I have to sit a few months in between each version with no Rift lol.

Intel i7 6700k OC 4.7ghz

Asus ROG Maximus VIII Hero Motherboard

Zotac GTX980ti 6GB Amp Extreme

Hey I found a perfect fix to the limited positional tracking with the DK2. Like many of you I can't get more than 5 feet away from the camera for positional tracking because my desk is against the wall and only a few feet deep. Instead of going further back I went up and it worked really well. Amazing the difference it made. Now I can't loose tracking no matter how much I move. Now to hide the wires so it doesn't look so bad. :)

So does the rift work with sli? Nvidiaa 3dvision does on my 55inch sony 3dtv, and that's with dcs world. Also works great with 3 screen nvidiaa surround. My concern is as nobody is really posting their hardware con figs and running this game in vr. I have 2x 7704gb just wondering if their going to be worthless with the rift and or I should purchase the new Titan or 880ti when it comes out and roll single card.

I7 4770k @ 4.6, sli 980 evga oc edition, ssdx2, Sony 55 inch edid hack nvidia 3dvision. Volair sim pit, DK2 Oculus Rift.

Anyone get their Rift to work with an AMD card yet in DCS?

Spent a couple of hours on it the other day ...nothing but a black screen...Its running in the backround...just a tease. :(

4k panels to go into production in half a year!

Cascaded 1440P Screens would be cheaper.

Probably they would - IF they were in mass production, which is not going to happen at least for now.

BTW, Panasonic (and Minolta even further before) has been making electronic viewfinders of similar technology for quite amount of time (R, G and B are emitted by the same diode, temporal separation, colors are mixed by our eyes) but this tech has not spreaded into big screen field. Probably because it has its own cons.

Temporal separation of color is really bad, in the viewfinders I saw you could literaly see rainbows when moving your eyeball. Ok for viewfinders, you don't move your eye too much. Not ok for high-FOV HMD. Besides if you want to remove latency as much as possible, you shouldn't depend on time when generating color.

It is probably a good thing zoom is disabled. Changing your FOV (same as zooming essentially) is very disorienting and uncomfortable. Additionally, it amplifies the imperfections in head tracking, which isn't so much an issue with TrackIR, but which is disastrous with the Rift.

We'll just have to wait for CV1 and its 4k custom built screen (Speculation).

I would like to change the default FOV at least.. not being able to readout HUD is the biggest and the only drawback issue Im having with DK2, flying A-10C.

Also, I'm not sure if it's just me but I feel the size ratio between real world vs virtual world in DCS is like 1:8.5, so I want to make the v.world a little bit bigger.

Sad but true that Res of the CV1 is likely to be 1440p which I doubt is enough for HUD readout.:(

Rosco, that tidy desk is a lie. Do you even sim? :smilewink:

Can I ask a favour of you or other DK2 holders? I was wondering if it is was possible to use the DK2 just as a 6DOF sensor. Can you sim wearing the DK2 backwards, place the camera behind you and use your monitor as the primary screen. Is the 6DOF sensing decoupled enough to configure the DK2 like this?

My DK2 is in the queue. Ordered in June which is quite late.

IT would help if we could play online with the OR box ticked

That's concerning. Mine will end up shelved very quickly. Or on EBay. Odd that prior to the past month or so, I had only seen a single post on this in this thread so I considered it a fluke.

Caveat Emptor I guess.

1440p screens are in mass prod.

They can make them cascaded on their own, its not that hard.

They can tap into that Googliness bank account and develop them on their own,

Take 2 LCDs, remove the backlight from one, mount them offset, boom, cascaded screens (I'll for-go the technical mumbo jumbo).

1080p OLED to 1440p 75Hz LED would fix alot, specifically with white text clarity. as the sub px arrangement of the 1440p would have smaller red and blue Pixels and more of them,

They need to stay away from this Diamond Pentile arrangement and at least go back to RGB S-Stripe.

This is the Samsung Galaxy Note 3's SubPX Arrangement (The same screen is in the DK2):

Siming without clutter :)

Yes I do but my wife makes me put my controllers away when I'm done with them. :)

Make sure your DK2 is your primary monitor.

works great, thanks..

However, with it being the main screen, i cant see the menus unless i take out the lens.

And how to i orientate it? like resetting the head position like TrackIR.

At the moment when i put it on, i have to look 90 degree left to orientate.

I got the dk2 however with the resolution so low it's hard to see all the dials and buttons. The head tracking does work well though. Is it possible to use the head tracking without the video going into the rift and instead go to my monitor without any distortion? Basically I want to use my rift as a trackir. Thanks!

F5 bud.

On another note, did the 1.2.10 patch do anything for Rift? Like make it run in DIRECT HMD??

Perhaps this should be DCS World feature. A switch for DK2 or DK2 tracking only.

Cool thanks..

It does, but you cant click anything with the mouse, unless you make it the main monitor.

Which isnt great as you cant see the menus when you got lens

Wouldnt that be great?

I was hoping NaturalPoint would have done a camera that didnt require you to wear anything by now, the technology is there.

I tried to make my own with Kinect for windows but the latency wasnt good enough and it had trouble tracking me when the room wasnt brightly lit (I havent tried Kinect 2 yet and wasnt planning to buy it because I got the rift instead :joystick:).

I tried using facetracknoir which uses a camera to track your face position but it was laggy. You can use a camera to track led's but they must be in a certain configuration. I'd rather be able to use the oculus camera and software because the tracking is damn near perfect. I wish there was a console command or something that would just activate the tracking without the video outputting to the rift.
