badaboom Posted March 25, 2016 Posted March 25, 2016 Best email I've gotten in years just arrived: "Hi Jason, Your Rift is almost ready to ship, and your order will be processed in the next 1-3 weeks. For some customers, your actual ship date may differ from the estimate you saw when ordering. Your payment will be processed when your order ships so we want to make sure we have your details right. Please check your order and review the following: Do we have your correct billing and shipping information? Is your payment information accurate? Is your PC ready to power Rift? You can use our compatibility tool to check, or learn more about our Oculus Ready program. Do you have an open HDMI port on your graphics card for Rift? You might need an adapter if the port is already in use for your monitor or TV. Thanks for being part of the future of VR. We can't wait for you to see what's next. See you in Rift, The Oculus Team." :thumbup:PURE AWESOMNESS:thumbup: When did you order? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

hannibal Posted March 25, 2016 Posted March 25, 2016 question for all you guys that actually can play DCS with oculus rift... if its not too much to ask, what is the graphic settings you set, and what is your PC spec, do you use mods, and how do you rate the playability? my impression from the reviews is that dk2 users play on all low settings to get no judder on a high spec machine.. find me on steam! username: Hannibal_A101A http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197969447179

All low, shadows, HDR and effects all off. Still can't maintain 75hz constant. I could a few patches back. I even had some settings turned up in Nevada. Something is causing a serious performance hit lately. I think it's objects but I'm unsure. I'm looking forward to the new VR release which will hopefully give us ATW. There is a lot of optimization still needed in the core engine though. Frusheen Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 (edited) someone needs to post up the 1.3 runtimes asap! They will be released on Monday but we need the latest VR implementation from eagle dynamics or we most likely won't see any improvement. EDIT: it seems ATW does not require ED coding to work which should result in an immediate improvement. Johnny Dioxin Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 (edited) I see the Vives are being delivered already. My wife and I watched a video of an unboxing and setting-up this morning and she actually thanked me for ordering the Rift! Said she thinks the Vive is ugly! I still see the Vive as something of an overpowered Wii and the Rift as a serious device, somehow. My son is well over jumping around the room age - he just turned 30 (come on all you 30 year-olds saying you just love jumping around the room!), and I was past that many years ago - so still happy with my choice (and actually getting SWMBO to be happy I bought a £500 PC device is the most amazing!) Regarding this again: The sbs video mode is no longer shown on your monitor since direct mode rendering was introduced so you won't be seeing any more of them. Is that just for the Rift, then? Because the guy in the video above said that (for the Vive) you can choose to output left or right screen - or both, to the monitor. Not sure about the latest runtime but the current oculus mirrored view is an unwarped single view which can be turned on or off (provided the developer includes that option). __________________________________________________Win 10 64bit | i7 7700k delid @ 5.1gHz | 32Gb 3466mhz TridentZ memory | Asus ROG Apex motherboard | Asus ROG Strix 1080Ti overclocked Komodosim Cyclic | C-tek anti torque pedals and collective | Warthog stick and throttle | Oculus Rift CV1 | KW-908 Jetseat | Buttkicker with Simshaker for Aviators RiftFlyer VR G-Seat project: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=2733051#post2733051

DerekSpeare Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 ATW as a native function in v1.3 runtimes is a HUGE deal, if you ask me. I do hope, however, that developers don't lean on it too much and neglect their obligation to ensure proper VR functionality by default. Congrats to everyone who is receiving their Oculus in the first run. Elo001 Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 (edited) question for all you guys that actually can play DCS with oculus rift... if its not too much to ask, what is the graphic settings you set, and what is your PC spec, do you use mods, and how do you rate the playability? my impression from the reviews is that dk2 users play on all low settings to get no judder on a high spec machine.. 780 TI, i5 OC'ed to 4 GHZ Everything set to low / disabled, even using a mod to disable tree shadows. Dropping below 75 (sometimes even below 50) in the 1.5 map when flying over / looking at villages or airports. DCS in its current state does not work properly in VR, at least on my machine. Only really works when you're flying at high altitudes (so less objects are rendered) or over empty terrain / open sea. I used to be able to run DCS in VR on lowest settings a few months back, performance seems to have actually gotten worse since then. Or maybe something changed on my machine, but I don't seem to be the only one who has that impression Regardless of actual graphics, it is simply impossible to play some campaign missions in VR. As soon as there are too many AI ground units your CPU becomes a massive bottleneck, even if there are no objects actually visible on the screen Once 1.3 releases and the juddering gets (hopefully) fixed framedrops shouldn't at least make you nauseous anymore, but I think it'll still be noticeable and might ruin any subconscious feeling of presence Edited March 26, 2016 by Elo001
DerekSpeare Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 Disable your Oculus Health and Safety Warning! Here's the video: [ame] [/ame] Since I've seen it a thousand times, I know the bla bla bla. I applied the registry changes exactly like shown in the video and it works like a champ. I'm running 0800 runtimes. I think it will need it again each new version, but it's a simple hack. This will give you the ability to turn off the Oculus H&S warning. WARNING: USE AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION AND USE AT YOUR OWN RISK - BACKUP YOUR REGISTRY FIRST. dot Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 I've just tried AMD 290 and I was going to say how the drivers have improved a lot and that I didn't really had a lot of driver issues, but I've just exited DCS (played with DK2) and I got infamous corrupted cursor. sigh... So far I have upgraded my cpu from 8 core xeon @ 2.3 ghz to 4 core i7 @4.6 ghz and upgraded gpu from GTX 670 to R9 290. DCS is dropping below 75 frames even with everything on low :( on 1080p monitor I get 150 - 200+fps. Looking forward to new patches....
dot Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 Framerate is quite bad in F15 instant mission. The good thing is that my cpu is only 20% used, and gpu 41%, so there is a lot of room for improvement.
Flamin_Squirrel Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 If the CPU and GPU aren't maxed out, where does the bottle neck come from?
dot Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 Probably some engine optimisations are needed. [ame] [/ame]
