I have no idea what this texture does. Could you please explain?

 

One more idea.

In flanker 2 times some textures used TGA files with masks. You could expand the mask and the game would somehow handle it correctly. If it works in DCS maybe it's possible to expand masks to accommodate the fake shadows.

 

Sorry for just dropping such "ideas" with no real solutions. I am no texturing expert :)

There are 2 textures that contain the needles. One is a specular map and one is a diffuse. However, I tested and painted them like heck and nothing appears on those needles.

 

 

Either they are "hardcoded" and are created by the game on the fly... like some vector textures or something or... the needles are textured by other textures placed else where.

Hey guys, I just wanted to post and ask this as I've always had this problem with the mod. Years ago I tried the mod for a while and I think I just reverted back to vanilla. Now I have gotten back into the Ka50 and thought I'd get this mod again as it is a beautiful piece of work, and so much better than stock.

 

For some reason though, all of the upper lights on the alert panel are severely blurry when your view is far enough back to be comfortable. In fact, in order to get the text to appear clear, you have to have your head uncomfortably close. it seems like some kind of anisotropic filtering issue but the original lights are perfectly fine. I can't be the only person in the world who has this issue, what gives?

Actually all of the forward rectangular lights are really blurry; Rotor RPM, etc.

Edit: I gave Ricardo's blue cockpit mod a go and wow, what an awesome piece of work! I love it, and luckily the alert panels are much clearer at further distances. Thanks very much for all of your work!

I would like to have the original warning lights of the KA-50. You mentioned on the post we can have them. Can you tell me what do I have to do to replace them?

 

I tried editing the .lua file and changing:

 

{"lamps", 0, "Ka-50 font lamp", true};

 

But now the lights are on russian.

Hi. Sorry for late response.

 

You don't need to touch description.lua file.

 

Just go to my mod zip. You'll see Stock Files folder. Open it and copy Ka-50 font lamp.dds file and paste into the place where you've installed the mod. Probably it's in "C:\Users\{your-user-name}\Saved Games\DCS\Ka-50"

I downloaded the mod from the download button on the digitalcombatsimulator mod page.

Secretcode; I'm still away from my PC, but I realized I missed something that you can already copy the Ka-50 font lamp.dds from "...\DCS World\Mods\aircraft\Ka-50\Liveries\Cockpit_Ka-50\english" folder.

 

It is the stock Eng warning lights.

first of all I have only the alpha version of Dcs .

 

first of all I try to install it as describe in the readme and I d' ont know exactly where I must install it in my document .

 

 

" Open the zip (my mod) file.

Copy (or hold & drag) "Liveries" folder (from my mod) into "C:\Users\{your-user-name}\Saved Games\DCS" folder and overwrite. "

 

 

overwrite what , I have not liveries folder ???

 

 

I d' ont forget to make that :

 

 

" Run DCS World.

Go to OPTIONS > SPECIAL Tab > KA-50 row.

Select "Ricardo HD" from Customized Cockpit pull-down menu.

Click "OK". "

Hmm. Ok. Not having Liveries folder means that you didn't install any cockpit mod before. :)

 

Ok. Whatever. Just copy Liveries folder from my mod zip into "C:\Users\{your-user-name}\Saved Games\DCS" folder.

 

Depends on what DCS version you have, the "DCS" name may vary, like DCS.openalpha, DCS.openbeta etc. etc.

 

Then you will see the selectable cockpit menu in Special tab of Ka-50.

 

Please write back if the problem persists.

1) How recent is that HD cockpit you posted.

2) With 2.5 out... should ED ever fix the button lightings for the BlackShark. Will you then adapt those changes into this mod ?

3) Will it come in both blue and black versions ?
