Some time ago Yo-Yo asked about flight/performance data for German planes and that they were difficult to come by.

Has ED decided on if and what adversary plane will be included at release?

If there is one, I'd wager that it'd be an Me-109. However, I don't recall anyone from Eagle Dynamics saying that there will be an A.I. enemy fighter included.

No, but Yo-Yo asked about data. Why would he do that, if not to provide an airtarget for the P-51?

if memory serves me correctly in the simHQ interview with Wags there was the same Q.

The answer was something along the lines of - we'll have to wait and see - like i said if memory serves...

As wolf says that seems to be a good indication that 'something's in the works...'

It's gotta be either a mid to late 109 or a 190 I guess.

That would be sooooooo cool!

So I guess ED can't even tell if they have decided on anything. ;-)

There was an Me-109 model on the ground in one of the dev videos, when the P-51 was taxiing. Doesn't equal a promise, but they're definitely thinking about it.

What's wrong with the Me-109G vs. P-51D matchup?

As I understand it, if we're using factory performance, the 109 out-does the P-51 in some areas and the P-51 out-does the 109 in other areas. The actual one-sided-ness in the conflict came from a discrepancy in the quality of fuel, the state of maintenance, and so on. (And many P-51s were shot down by 109s, even so.) But, should we ever get DCS: ME 109G, it will doubtless be to factory standards and not simulated wartime conditions; that is, it surely wouldn't be modelled as being poorly-maintained and having sub-average fuel. Thus, in-sim, the two should be a fairly even match, overall. I would expect a "fresh" 109G to win more at lower altitudes and the P-51 to win more at higher altitudes; however, it has been nearly ten years since I did any serious research on Second World War fighters, so that assessment could be inaccurate.

BF-109G was a very good aircraft. And the BF-109K was to be feared apparently. It was a lack of experienced pilots that saw the luftwaffe regularly flogged by the P-51D.

But agree. Would like to see the FW-190D as the adversary.

Or maybe a late model WW2 Japanese aircraft - given we seem to have the long range version of the P-51D that flew missions over Japan in 1945.

My understanding is that IF there is an adversary for the pony, then it will be an unflyable AI only adversary.

I mean I hope I'm wrong but that's all I've dared to hope for so far.

My fav would be a 190 of some description but we'll see.

I do hope they give us a friendly bomber to protect and an enemy fighter and bomber to shoot down.

And I wish ED would talk about it. I back 3 Kickstarter gaming projects by known companies and get swamped by dev notes and blogs about progress and planned features. I do understand there were issues in the past with community reactions to announcements, so I guess ED is twice shy.

Just remembered when I fist saw this thread, took me a while rummaging through my stuff but I have in my possession extensive documentation of the following

Fw 190 A-8 Bremen

Fw 190 D-9 Bremen

Ta 152 H Bau

The documentation consists of hi resolution scans of the original factory manuals, construction drawings, engineering manuals and drawings.. Total of 2GB worth of docs.

Pretty much everything you need to know to make your own A8 and D9 but only limited documentation on the Ta..

Sooo If they want my stash they can pm me...

Having an adversary might make the P51-D more attractive to me.

As of now, meh.

I think it's likely that they might not see your post, so you might want to instead P.M. Yo-Yo to offer it. Say, how did you come by such a trove?

Many years ago I bought them in the pipe dream that I would reconstruct an accurate RC model... What can I say, I got busy...

Anyhow these digital docs are marked with a copyright instruction, no digital distribution or resale is allowed so to cover my ass from the original distributors I would have to gift it to ED and lose it. :( or would I ? hmmm digital copies are soo flakey these days :D

Bought them from where? I'd like to know where one can get such things these days.

It was a long time ago, had a bit of a look but where ever I got them from doesn't seem to exist anymore.... Starting to think these were a real bargain. Think I paid ~250 for them.

Well anyway lets see if its any good to ED....
