SmokeyTheLung Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 Same here, quite lame. Almost looks like a RAM issue, but I have plenty and have never had issues before System specifications: Computer, joystick, DCS world, Beer
Mustang Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 The cause is by alt-tabbing, issue will be reported.

Corrigan Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 The cause is by alt-tabbing, issue will be reported. So it's introduced by alt-tabbing? Can it be similarly remedied? Win10 x64 | SSDs | i5 2500K @ 4.4 GHz | 16 GB RAM | GTX 970 | TM Warthog HOTAS | Saitek pedals | TIR5
Nate--IRL-- Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 So it's introduced by alt-tabbing? Can it be similarly remedied? Try it. But I suspect it will not. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
Corrigan Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 Alright, so I tested for a second. It seems very consistent: first alt-tab makes most objects black. As you suspected, cycling alt-tab doesn't fix it. Win10 x64 | SSDs | i5 2500K @ 4.4 GHz | 16 GB RAM | GTX 970 | TM Warthog HOTAS | Saitek pedals | TIR5
Spetz Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 (edited) Have the same thing here. I have to alt-tab when I first start in the BS so I can use my mouse to select anything, but then the black buildings. They appear to pop back into a normal building about 700m or so away when approaching. I have also noticed while flying in the shark that random buildings seem to "regenerate" at times when flying over them in the cities. They just flash black and are back to normal again in a 1/2 second. Not a RAM issue, I have 16Gb and all work just fine. Nothing like this in any other aircraft. Edited October 8, 2012 by Spetz
lubey Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 I found that when I had "disable windows aero themes" or something similar selected in the options menu then this also caused the exact same thing. This was in the A-10 though. SPECS: Intel Core i5 760 @ 3.2 Ghz +turboboost enabled, 12 GB DDR3 1600 @ 1500 Mhz, ATI Radeon 5850, TrackIR 5, X52 Pro and Saitek pedals
Corrigan Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 The disable aero thing should always be disabled, IIRC. In any case that isn't what's causing this. At least it's predictable. If you use windowed mode you can get around alt-tabbing for basically anything. The only time I 'alt-tab' is when starting fraps, which forces the sim to redraw everything just like alt-tabbing in full screen mode. ajax Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 I got the black buildings again last night. I made sure to save a copy of the mp client track for Nate, but when I reviewed the track everything appeared normal--no black buildings. Go figure.
Corrigan Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Well, yes. Nothing that will show up on a track is broken. Compare it to taking a screenshot when your monitor is cracked. Win10 x64 | SSDs | i5 2500K @ 4.4 GHz | 16 GB RAM | GTX 970 | TM Warthog HOTAS | Saitek pedals | TIR5

There was another small discussion about this in the DCS: World Updates Thread. I think somebody there also ran the game in windowed mode but still had the black buildings, without alt-tabbing. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=94905&page=43 Intel i5-2500k @ 4.4GHz w/ H70 liquid cooler, ASRock PRO3-M Z68 Mobo, 32G 1600Mhz Mushkin RAM, EVGA GTX970 4GB , OCZ Agility 3 128g SSD, SanDisk 240g SSD, Win7 64-bit --Twitch: http://www.twitch.tv/livingfood --
Corrigan Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Until more evidence turns up that it can be caused without alt-tabbing, I'm gonna assume he started fraps, pressed ctrl-alt-delete or something else that has the same effect. I run in fullscreen mode, and havent seen this happen before. Airfield fencelines are also playing up with textures; something has changed in the new build. Please fix. RedRain Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 I do not alt tab at all, black buildings after last update ?
TRITATUTTO Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 Continue to have black buildings in Shkval and outside cockpit , the disable aero interface is unchecked , i put basic window desktop so i dont need that option. Any fix till now ? Thanks AMD Phenom II x4 945 3.0ghz 8G Ram Windows 7 64bit ATI Radeon HD 5700 1G
codenamepanzer Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 For me i confirm, no ALT TAB = no black buildings Why doing ALT TAB? As i'm concerned, i do it when at the misson startup i have the mouse cursor on the cockpit but buttons are not clickable. Doing two ALT TAB restore the ability of clickable buttons. I had this problem when i changed my mouse two days ago (RAT9 wireless). I think its a problem of driver/W7. I came back to my old wired mouse to avoid the issue.

Mustang Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 Are you guys running windowed mode by chance? i think thats also a trigger for the black buildings, try using fullscreen option.
