Interesting as I'm studying for the sift fm 3-04-203 talks about blades going supersonic and when they transition to sub sonic comes a distinct change in tone. Suppose every bird is generally different I. It's design

This is a video game forum buddy, don't forget that. Follow the info in the fm 3-04-203 - Then ask the appropriate people who do it for a living, not via a video game / video game forum ;)

Officials of the Army Contracting Command at Redstone Arsenal, Ala., announced a $144 million contract modification Tuesday to Hellfire Systems LLC in Orlando, Fla., to produce 2,060 Hellfire II missile models AGM-114R, AGM-114R-3, AGM-114P-4A, ATM-114Q-6, and AGM-114R-5.

These missiles will be involved in U.S. foreign military sales to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan, Iraq, Egypt, and Australia. The AGM-114R is the latest version of the Hellfire II missile. The others involved in this sale are earlier, less-capable models. Hellfire System is a venture of the Lockheed Martin Corp. Missiles and Fire Control segment in Orlando, Fla.

Issues-can anyone help ?

Hi everyone, Patryk from Poland, interested in AH-64 subject from 15 years, I saw that on this forum you have many detailed information and for that reason I will ask for help in 3 issues which are difficult to solve for me:

1. I saw that AH-64 crew uses additional NV goggles-why they do that despite they have TADS/PNVS systems??

2. What will happen if i'am in the middle of aiming for the target (ex. tank, car) from AH-64 with laser beam and my aircraft move or the target will move? Is TADS laser beam stabilised and locked on target and follow with the target or i am forced to point it once again?

3. What are those items on wingtips in this Apache (marked white be me :)) ?

Thank you in advance for all help and time. Bye

Thanks for fast answer but i don't thiks so....:( why ?

1. AMASE is installed only on Dutch AH-64D and i am pretty sure that helo on my picture is US (look on ASPII system on it's engines end which is only used bu Yankee)

2. Installations in my photo are pretty different and bigger than those on yours

3. Maybe american version/similar system to the AMASE

:book: ??

1: Best of both worlds. FLIR is not the best all the time. In fact, these days one crewmember is required to be on goggles instead of TADS/PNVS (or so I heard).

2. TADS has an image auto tracker that can track targets automatically. The TADS is also ground stabilized so even without a lock it is relatively easy to track moving targets.

AMASE DIRCM system.

IcfM3p.jpg

That is an AMASE POD, no DIRCM installed.

This pots are modular based, they can recieve DIRCM's, but that version does not have them. It has MAWS (Missile Approach Warning Sensor) and additional FLARE dispensers. Also there are very little amount of such AMASE pods.

Sorry for noob question, but is the 64 better or worse than the Ka50?

The AH-64 is a lot more capable than the -50s.

Its sorta equal with the -52s, AFAIK.

But the Apache has a much longer service history and has proven itself in a combat environment for decades. Not saying the Ka-52 is bad, because it's a wonderful in its on right.

Having seen the Apache and Mi-24 prove their worth in combat in person, I do say I love attack choppers!

Also remember, the US Army only starts counting hours when the wheels leave the ground unlike civilian logged hours! Good god!
