this was funny I imagine you can find idiots like some they found an any coutnry as some one once said about half of all people are bellow average.

There is a reason some of us are isolationists...

I belive this is targeted at me.

1)"below avereage" was not the words I chose. I used ignorance.

2)Isolacionism is bad enough of a defect. This adjective crossed my mind but I preferred it out to avoid hurting certain sensitivities. Instead I used the sentence:

"and generaly they are content with everyday mundane life and are simply not much interested in the problems of the rest of the world "

This also answers Kilsek's question. ;)

Puting it short I wanted to transmit the idea that no one should put the head under the sand because the body will take the full blow of problems.

Americans are smarter than you like to think. It's not about global dominance or controlling other countries. It's our duty to promote Freedom and the Right to pursue Happiness.

Aaaaa! And also the bringer of the democracy!

But what authorization the americans do have ,to do this? No authorization! But they still do it. If your country is not cooperating then your country is dead. And what if your country don't want that kind of freedom or your rights?

But remember, every empire will fall. Just a mather of time... (egyiptians ,greeks ,romans ,the german-roman empire ,the russian empire ,the brits and many many more)

A bit of an exageration dont you think? I didnt always like the kind of military escapades and the motives the US has had, but lets also not forget the countries pasted by the US military machine didnt quite ask either the permition to conduct genocide, atrocities and military actions of their own.

Acording to your logic, France and Germany should have been nuked by now.

Continuing my comments above...do you wanna have a front seat and watch an "evil empire" crumbling (rather slowly) near your borders? I dont think so....

I suggest you learn how to spell Lichtenstein, before trying to compare us Europeans with that bunch of ignorant people seen on the video.

My bad! Spelling of Lichtenstein that is. However, the uproar is of Americans and not Europeans as portrayed in the video I saw. I don't think there were any Euros in it.

Yeah, as long as it's American happiness ...

And try telling the people in Guantanamo Bay you're promoting freedom ...

I've never heard a bigger load of drivel. You've allowed yourself to be brainwashed by Fox News.

This is the scariest thing about the US ... many of its citizens truly believe that it's still the 'Freest Nation on Earth', when that is far from the case. How can the population do anything about it when they don't think anything is wrong?

Things are going to get a lot worse before they get better.

That is a damn good question. America is, and has been, trying to find a culture that is it's own. We are a nation of many cultures, and we cannot just pick one and say that is they way we are, and begin advancing that particular one. If you are looking at us from outside the box, I am sure you can see that we can be divided on any issue in a second. Religions, races, sexes, hell, we even disagree on what rights we should have. We are young and immature as a nation. Until America can define itself and become stable, it is going to be forever young.

We have many problems, so does many other countries. I ask you, what would help us to not be such a focal point in the world, but rather another nation of equal stature? Less world involvment? A giant wall where nothing enters and nothing leaves? The U.N. being here? Our involvement with the Middle East? Germany? Korea? Bosnia? Iran? Iraq? Afganistan? Some folks I work with feel we should stop getting involved in every nations BS, and let what happens....happens. Some folks feel we should be involved.

One thing that I thing would help you is to cut down on the military, a lot.

What if you were to cut 50% of the defence buget and divert it to helping the misfortuned in your country and for crime prevention, dealing with the overweight problem and so on? That would certainly create new job opportunities for the soldiers that become unemployed. 50% of the defence budget is like 200 billion dollars!!

Money doesn't solve every problem, but it's a good start ;)

Too bad this will never happen as long as your leaders have ties with the industry.

[Eisenhower] saw this happening for 20 years after WW2, and I believe this is what makes us a target for the world. Our goverment with ties to a corporation, say, Haliburton, Blackwater, Boeing, Northrop-Grumman, Exxon, and any other, who can make our leaders want to get involved somewhere in the world that many of us here don't care about.
Yep, saw that in a documentary some time ago. A very insightful man apparently. Too bad no one listned to him... I guess that there are too much money to earn for the involved.. me first, the people that elected me second.

This is one of the things hardest to understand, I can't belive that it's legal for a person that has been chosen by the people (well... not really) and that have authority over the military to have personal interests in the military industry. It certainly isn't in my country.

Yes machinist is the correct word for what am i going to be ,but i always hated the first "a" in that word so i changed it for an "e"

The Hungarians have evil empire on their neightbours all the time. First the German-Roman empire than the Turkish empire than the Habsburg empire than the "little-entente" than the 3rd Reich and than the Sovjetunion. So this little country was always had an evil empire near the border...

Yeah..Americans' date=' come on, someone, tell me 2/3+3/5=?[/quote']

this reminds me....on some rebate/sweepstakes forms, Canadian residents must answer some silly math questions like this. Anyone know why this is?

Everytime I see one of these forms, I always double check to see that it's not a joke.

Itself. :D Since 2001, I needed to use a passport to cross the border. I'm an CANADIAN citizen, for cryin' out loud. Just who so they think they are to require me to have a passport to get in? :D

Wyn

Really???? I didn't know we were already requiring you to have passports to come into the US. I thought this was something new for both our countries. Not something I've paid too much attention to, obviously.

C'ause they are not the 51st State of the USA...

It's still a sovereign country....

They're not????

They are?????

The usual American arrogance.

Of course. Must be. Evidently the smilies didn't fool you. Saw right through me.

As an American I do envy some things European. And that is you have more vacation and holidays than we do. I could either become a teacher here in the U.S.A. or move to Europe to get more days off. Something to consider for myself.

Where's democracy when you support military dictatorships? ****ing hypocrites. USA should be nuked.

With all respect and understanding your frustration and anger: Nobody needs to be nuked !

I don't like what US foreign politics does and I sure don't like how hey treat the people down in Guantamo Bay. Beeing arrested for some years now without a formal trial and without legal assistance - those who claim to fight for right and justice kick the same thing with their boots...

However I recommend to shift back a gear or two.

I would not consider current policy making as the American way. Just look at the President's poll rating. It's the lowest ever and possible the lowest in American history. He has had the most "closed door" policy of any president. I personally did not vote for him. Spotted trouble when he was governor of Texas.

Guys,

Before I close down this thread I have a question:

Who broadcasted this "poll"? ;)

Cheers,

- JJ.

If we won't tell you, you can't close this thread :dreaming:

Anyway. Before this thread is murdered. I must say it was quite polite discussion about an issue that usually turns into flame wars after 10 posts average. Amazing.

This whole thread is ridiculous. The rest of world's generalizations are SOOO far off from how it truly is here. Jealousy maybe?

I know stupid people, but out of everyone I've ever met I've never met anyone that stupid. The video is probably as big a joke as it is just funny. I bet they polled people either until people would pretend they didn't know or just polled as many people as they had to until they ran across stupid ones and only showed them.
