No matter how high I set it, sometimes up to 300 - 500!!! the turbulence appears not to be simulated (?)

Is this a bug in the current release of DCSW?

Yep,

I allways fly with wind at at least 9m/s... Sometimes up to 15m/s at ground level.

I have set turbulence up to 500 with no noticeable effects... Maybe it's tunned down in DCS World?

Turbulence is a factor of wind speed.

E.g. 5m/s*0,3 will give you turbulence. And with 0 windspeed it's 0m/s*0,3=0

I'm a bit of a maths noob - what does the s variable represent in that expression?

m/s is the unit, metres per second, the systeme international unit of speed.

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

Ahh I see thank you - I was reading it as m divided by s lol.

Well that's exactly what it is. 5 meters divided by 1 second. Or: 5m / 1s. Or: 5m/s.

Now, let's say we want to know the distance traveled in 20 seconds at this speed:

(5 meters divided by 1 second) times 20 seconds. Or: (5 meters / 1 second) * 20 seconds. Or: 5m/s * 20s. Or: 100 meters.

The seconds, in this example, get canceled out of the equation, only leaving meters. So you were completely right, the units were divided just like the numbers.

Concerning speed (and velocity, and flow rates and such), the units are usually worded as "something per someother", not "something divided by someother". But from a maths point of view, it actually is a division.

Examples include stuff like 5m/s (meters per second), 80mph (miles per hour), 6l/100km (6 liters per one hundred kilometers) and so on.

That makes more sense to me, thanks for the explanation. I always read it as 'per' by it makes perfect sense that, simply, it's just a division.

Cheers

There is one very good video tutorial to that:

Now if you want to know instantaneous speed, go ask Sir Newton.

Or Leibniz. Don't forget about Leibniz! :)

Please tell me she's got a degree in physics or something and was just teasing him. Please. Or else my brain is going to explode. Or implode. Haven't decided yet. :megalol:

So not the woman with degree in physics type. Trust me. :)

I that's for real, I would not be able to listen to her
