But a full 6dof pit doesn't need 1 year of work?

Implementing 6DOF (movement of the head inside the cockpit) is relatively easy (there's already a mod that does this).

But ED is doing a high-polygon new 3D model of the SU-27 cockpit, to match the quality of F15 already in FC3. It won't be fully functional (as a DCS title, like A10C), as that would mean simulating systems and avionics that a DCS level aircraft needs.

It won't take a year, but it's not a trivial matter for ED to do. Making a detailed 3D model of the cockpit takes some time.

$50 they already had one being worked on, with Animations and Connectors already done.... and like the F-15 Pit, they decided to Include it into FC3 Module.

they dont announce early dev projects. it's actually better not to announce something until it's concrete, that way you're not announcing inclusion, then announcing a cut if it doesnt pan out. The Fact taht ED is listening and doing this is a big PLUS, But people still wanna sit and complain about the financial politics with Ubi.

Chances are there were a few DCS Planes in early dev, that were either scratched or postponed, and they are making good use off assets that they developed during that time.

But i have no proof, thats just my assumption.

Either way, Im gonna be getting my some Flanker time now,

as I cant fly in the LoMAC Style pits, they simply don't work for me,

specially in eyefinity/6DoF TrackIR,

cuz they are modeled to be viewed from one Point (Like Thirdwire's).

the 3d Pit will be welcomed immensely.

Now you're thinking too much :D

Anyway, I'm very, very happy we are getting new pit for the Flanker, if one day Wags announces the same for the MiG-29 I am going to dance like a girl.

..and I'll be by your side, in my pumps and my tutu, dancing even better!

I know it all started with the flanker.. and that plane have all right to be first red with 3d 6-dof But I've always been partial to the MIG-29! At least we get a radar 'upgrade' And maybe someone mod the pit so you at least can 'look around the corners' while waiting. :cheer3nc::cheer3nc:

This was my original thought too. BUT:

From Wags' explanation of things, I understood that they weren't planning the cockpit upgrade for SU27, only the external model upgrade. He said that ED listened to the community and decided to add features (for example a better 3D 6DOF cockpit for the Flanker), which is why they also decided to raise the price of the final product (when it's released).

If ED was planning the Flanker cockpit all along, why would they now decide to raise the price?

Maybe they wanted to see all the crying first and laugh about it....knowing they were working on the pit. :D

Considering how long it takes to make one, I presume they already had one sitting around and decided to speed up the process after the community feedback?

Community feedback, oh, maybe we need more of it. :megalol:

This is how it went...

With the team hovering behind Matt who said, while rubbing his hands together, "watch this, hommies." Matt clicked Post Quick Reply, turned to the team..."I did not tell them we have planned to include the Su-27 pit and new hires model!"

They all busted out in song and dance...

ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P

Anyone remember there were some pics a few years back of a su-27 pit ed was working on (I think it was anyway)? I have looked high and low on these forums but can't find the thread or pics. I wonder if this is that same pit or if it is a total do-over?

I remember pics posted by skylark of the Su27 model, but not a pit. The pit in current LO: FC actually is an upgrade from the original LOMAC Su27 pit. They changed a few things, but it still wasn't full 3d.
