I dont know if I do something wrong but i think this is a very simple made flying aircraft.Even more I have the impression it is far away from real.

I am used to fly with A2A P51 which is completely made according the real specifications.

So I am rather new at this site and may be there is setting missing in my installment but as fa r I can see it its very simple.

Sounds like you might have the simplified settings on and maybe auto rudder. Have a look through your options settings. Though once airborne the pony isn't a difficult airplane to fly with perhaps the accelerated stall being the trickiest thing to watch out for during normal flight. This is realistic and reflects what pilots said about flying it - they tended to feel very much at home quite quickly.

I like to nose over with stick full for'ard. I know I shouldn't but its a blast!!!

AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS

Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.

I have great difficulty getting it into a spin. I really have to be mean on the controls.

I'd think that a high performance fighter would gladly go into a spin at first opportunity.

In comparison I found it's accelerated stalls come on too fast, with not that much stick input.

I think I'm on default axis settings as I've made no changes or profiling, anyway I'll carry on flying around beyond the safety window.

I guess the Takeoff Assistant is on....

I think one of the other issues is that a lot of players first tried it back in beta, when it was considerably more difficult to control, in particular during taxi and takeoff.

I think that takeoff did not change since the early public beta. The only thing that was changed was taxiing with tailwheel swiveling. For my mind, it's a growing skill. For example, my rudder pedals uses to die due to the USB port time-out (I think so) and sometimes taking off I am faced to failed rudder... so no I am able to successfully proceed using keys. Anyway, if you perform something wrong the Mustang readily will punish you.

FSX and Hawx2 the best AFM in the sim world

yes there were some items mentioned by you which causes some problems.

like the takeoff assistant.

I am in the free flight to prepair the next step.

But still the plane has some non professional issues,it is more for general use I think.

I will give it a change and maybe lateron in the game how it looks like.

thanks for the replies.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS, This PONY ROCKS

Good review from a particular viewpoint, my experience of the P51d comes from the perspective of having flown every aircraft from this stabel since discovering the "FLANKER B" and have been addicted to them all ever since. So strapping on a prop from this team was a real delight. I found even the beta was so engaging a simulation that it instantly became my "fun chillout bird" which I now fly every day before or after I get into some kick arse modern air combat.

I absolutely love this venerable warbird,

  • Love the fidelity
  • Love the way that you must actively fly it at all times
  • Love the great AtoG action
  • Love the eye popping AtoA

Most of all I am so engaged in it when I fly it that it never fails to put a large silly grin on my face and for that I am very grateful to the team at ED.

I often fly the Mustang with other squad member flying their favourite aircraft in formation at the start or end of a session and it is interesting to note that no matter what aircraft other squad members are flying in, they all really love to see, feel and hear the pony flying beside them. There can be no doubt that this bird is a seductive little temptress that wins hearts wherever it flies in DCSW.

still the plane has some non professional issues

And what are those then? Plus compared to what exactly? The RL Mustang? And if so, who exactly are you to say so? Do you own and/or have you flown one?

The DCS Mi-8MTV2. The best aviational BBW experience you could ever dream of.

He's a fan of A2A - and that's ok.

Doebro, let me know how firing the guns are like in A2A.

For me the admiration for this product grew the moment I understood the problem was *** on me *** having to adapt to the much more realistic FDM in DCS than anything I had used before.

These days, taking off or landing under the most severe crosswind and turbulence conditions is something that presents no such big problem to me. I have finally tuned my hands / reactions to control it properly!

I confess I was also a bit affraid of getting back to other sim platforms where everything feels so laggy, like FSX, or even XPlane, but since I also own A2A's p51d, which is great in terms of MSFS, it was good to find that I can easily transition from one model to the other and now I can ride both without any problems! It's good to be able to use both :-)

Again, and just like IRL - practice, practice...practice!

I have practice a lot last couple of days with the P51.

I must say that the aircraft is much better then I thought

so I have to come back on my words regarding non profesionnal issues.

I am happy with it now.

I still use fsx dx10 with A2A but for other reasons like orbx sceneries etc.

The 2nd step is a hard one... clearing your disk of any other sims (well, less soaring sims in my case...) because you'll soon find out how inferior they ALL are at replicating the bahaviour of a powerful ww2 prop aircraft, a ka-50 or an a10c...

- Yes the scenery is limited...

- Yes I don't like air war, and just use DCS World to fly around and would love to have more concise navigation aids (VORs, NDBs, etc..) and be able to use it for, say IFR, but this is not the aim of DCS World, so, I have to give up on that to get the great flight dynamics it offers...

- Yes, I know I have to read a LOT of manual lines if I just want to properly startup the ka-50...

But!!!! This sim is the best sim I ever used!!!!! And... there is much more to come in the future, with that awesome UH-1H being next!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!

well I was not intend to clean the disc for fsx dx10 and shortly I bought xplane 10 for future purposes.

DCS is a trial for me but like you said it is a pitty you cannot sightseeing

which would be nice at my age.

perhaps in my second home this year I will install DCS overthere on a seperated comp.

Regarding X-Plane10, you'll soon find out how wrong the prop models are....

While X-Plane models some of the prop physics / effects, it does not, or does poorly model slipstream, and it's asymmetric bahaviour on a prop aircraft.

All prop aircraft in XP10 are plagued by a rather unrealistic roll moment due to torque, under any flight regime, while yaw due to prop effects is minimal.

In FSX you can somehow try to model slipstream effects on yaw through p-factor, but that's not realistic.

To my knowledge, DCS World and it's p51d is the first simulation platform that at least apparently (and from what I have tested) takes all of these effects into play, resulting on the most remarkable prop aircraft flight dynamics, under any flight regime/configuration.

DCS World's Flight Dynamics model is unique in it's level of detail and consistency, IMHO!.

yes I am very disappointed with xpx but let it come in the next few years.

b.t.w I dont know if this the right place but do you know if I have the right settings in the game and in nvidia inspector.

I used for dcs the standard with app.contr and vsync off .

in the game high settings and vsync on. no tree shadow and no cockpit shadow. bush and trees 50% and preload 150000

If I start in free flight and take the one start on the runway in the dawn

then I got 20 fps.

I have a gtx680/3770k overclocked to 4.6 ghz and SSD 512 gb and 8 gb mem

your opinion would be appreciated.

thanks for the info, it is not what I prefer, will try further.

Still got problems with the plane i.e start quick mission I cannot get the plane in the air.If I use the rudder for one inch then it crashes

tried the sat.. to 50% but didnot help

sometimes the plane makes a turn by using the rudder of 180 degrees

and this wonderfull aircraft goes on backwards.

Either there is a lot lost in translation here or you need to share whatever you're smoking.
