Stacker Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 Hey, I must be doing something wrong - I've got my CDU set up in the offset page, change the mode to Bullseye, punch in the callout (e.g, Tally armour at 240 for 15 as 240015). Allocate a new steer/way point for it, switch over to 'Mission' steerpoints. I then set my HUD to SOI, DMS up/down to the steer point just created, TMS aft long to set it as my SPI and then slew all sensors to it. The SP 'looks' legit (in the sense that it's within range and in the right direction etc..) However, when I take a look via the TGP I see absolutely nothing in that area. In fact, I've done this a dozen times and I've yet to find a single target using these callouts, any ideas? Also, one question on brevity - when I hear 'Kill armour at xxxx' is he giving me a command or notifying me of an action he's done? Cheers. i7-4790K@4.7GHz : EVGA 1070 SC : 16GB Corsair Vengence Pro : 2xEVO 840 SSD : EVGA 850W PSU : CORSAIR H100i Cooler : ASUS Z97-AR MB : CORSAIR OBSIDIAN 750D FULL TOWER
Nu-NRG Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 Well if it is in the area it should be there. Maybe you just need to look "better". It's an informative call that he/she/it killed armor at ###/###. Aviate - Navigate - Communicate
jib Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 The JTAC usually sends the data (location) into your CDU. or are you practicing with that turned off? PhoenixBvo Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 Are you sure the Bulls Eye location in the CDU was correct for the mission? FreeFall Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 Which DCS A-10C version are you running? There was a fix for v1.1.1.1(?) sometimes. For more info about bullsey problems, see this thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=96631
Stacker Posted February 4, 2013 Author Posted February 4, 2013 Thanks for the replies guys - @jib - I use JTAC without issues, I'm practicing picking up opportunistic targets from the general radio chatter. @PhoenixBvo - I'm using a saved quick start mission. The only tweak I made to it was adding ground vehicles to my start location to allow re-arm etc.. The bullseye is directly on top of my start position - I wonder if I've messed it up inadvertently. I'll check on that tonight. @FreeFall - Latest version 1.2.2 i7-4790K@4.7GHz : EVGA 1070 SC : 16GB Corsair Vengence Pro : 2xEVO 840 SSD : EVGA 850W PSU : CORSAIR H100i Cooler : ASUS Z97-AR MB : CORSAIR OBSIDIAN 750D FULL TOWER
falcon_120 Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 If i'm not wrong, from a bullseye call you get an aproximation on the target position, but in any case,an exact location of the target, you'll have to look around with the TGP. It seems you're doing it right, but the target might be 0.5 miles away from the spi.

The "Armor" target is moving so that at the time the bullseye call was made that was in fact the position of the target, then as you enter the info. the target is still on the move, by the time you complete data entry and fly to the erea the target is now miles away from original call. the direction of travel is key to locating it. I've had this situation in some of the missions I downloaded where the targets were moving tanks/IFV's/.... You get the position at the time of the call but then you have to start looking. In case they started on the road it's rather easy because you just have to follow the road in the direction they should be going. It's not point and kill, you have to search for the targets, otherwise it'd be too easy:music_whistling:

Krudnits Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Stacker, You aren't doing anything wrong. A 6 digit MGRS grid is accurate to within 100 meters. If they gave an 8 digit grid, it would be to within 10 meters, but that would be to a specific vehicle, versus a column of armor. I had difficulty at first when JTAC would give me an armored target and not tell me they were on the move. I found the T-90s moving SE, 2km from the point they gave me.
Krudnits Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Oh yeah, I've also noticed that JTAC loves to feed you targets that are in the trees. I find it really difficult to find them in the trees unless they are the unintelligent SPARTY columns that sit right on top of each other, making it easier to spot the heat cluster with the TGP.
