wolfstriked Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 You cant go by drawings like that, many are highly inaccurate... I would hope ED used actual blueprints and tech drawings... Exactly what I was saying earlier. It seems like the artists who draw vintage planes take a "slight" liberty to add that extra something. They all look super kool.:D "Its easy, place the pipper on target and bombs away." :pilotfly: i7-8700k/GTX 1080ti/VKB-GladiatorPRO/VKB-T-rudder Pedals/Saitek X55 throttle

MiloMorai Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 I see more of a "bulge" in the drawing than in that image, especially on the top side.... There isn't a 'bulge' on the top. There is no flap on the top. If one looks at a top or bottom view, one will see a 'bulge'. The 'bulge' is an illusion tho as the fuselage is narrower to allow for more hot air to escape.

Sometimes I think you guys are too eager to disagree for the sake of disagreeing... look at the drawing.... it has a bulge at the top... compared to the actual image you can see the drawing is more distinctive... sheeeesh.... MiloMorai Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Just pointing out the drawings are wrong, and which side tracked the discussion from the `bulge`subject.
wolfstriked Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Just look back to page 32 of this post and you will see people posting about this same issues back in 2013.They even posted the same pic I did of the Dora and pointing out how the DCS model is not a great representation of this plane.Even the wings seem to have more upward sweep.Lots of small detail is missing IMO.I Will still buy it and that is a sure thing but I really feel that this could be improved upon. [DBS]TH0R Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 (edited) krupi, that is not what I was talking about. :) Not sure what it is called but I think it houses the radiator flaps.I am talking about the engine cover that goes all the way to the propeller. The DCS rendition shows an even surface from the radiator flaps to the propeller while the other pic shows that right before the propeller the cover bulges slightly. I agree. It should look, pardon the expression, more "chubby". :) DCS D9 has the engine cowling way too streamlined IMHO. EDIT: Just flew her again and it doesn't seem that off as it did at first... I guess it depends on the angle from which she is being viewed. Mogster Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 It always surprises me when I've had the chance to see an original WW2 aircraft up close how rough the finish and fit is compared to a modern plane. These aircraft were being produced before modern methods of standardised mass production, I'd suggest that there were probably slight differences between batches. I'd think the differences were probably even greater when different manufacturing plants were involved. Just saying :)

Just saying :) The production methods might not been as refined as they are today with CNC and robots, but you have also keep in mind that there was a war going on ... producing mass production - quick and cheap was the only priority. Somewhere I read for example, that the bombs were produced in different quality levels later in the war. The original design of i.e. the SC500 featured a one-piece bomb body of cast steel - good for penetrating buildings and to go off inside. Then, later, the cast steel body was only used for the front/tip of the bomb while the rest was thick sheet metal. And the lowest quality was just all sheet metal which could not used with a delay fuze as the bomb body would not survive the impact anyways.

Isegrim Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 I have extreme framerate drops with her, if a 51 is firing its 50.cal somewhere in a ~10km radius. Is that normal? Or is that only a thing of my PC? "Blyat Naaaaa" - Izlom

Or is that only a thing of my PC? Everyone has it. Usually when I don't have a visual on the enemy / where action is, I can tell by looking in the direction where my FPS plummets down to 10. Apparently only EDGE will fix that. Limitation of the current engine or how they implemented .50cals.
