Mt5_Roie Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Anyone using track ir 5 with the DCS A10C? I was doing the landing tutorial and sometimes I have the TrackIR 5 just jumping and skipping around. I have not had issues in the other tutorials. I'm using a profile for the Track IR 5 from Fish. So I set mine up just like he did in the youtube video. It has great view and precision but I've noticed this out of focus and skipping can be annoying? Could it be the saitek x52 pro as well conflicting? I am not using any other light sources in my room and I have the hat clip. In the software I make sure that the 3-d view head is centered before I start the game. PoleCat Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Light source behind you maybe? Check the camera window that shows the 3 dots. Look for any other dots that are not the hat or track clip. If there are others it maybe light from behind. Also this can happen if you turn you head so far to one side that one of the dots from the clip go out of view of the camera. The solution for this is to tweak the file so that you can move your head less side to side and still get full pan. Good luck. Out http://www.104thphoenix.com/
JG14_Smil Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Hello, TIR's sometimes don't like a USB hub. Just thinking out loud... good luck!
ZQuickSilverZ Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 The TrackIR 5 tracks light reflected off the hat clip (I know you know that already). It is possible you are wearing something on your body that is also reflecting the light. The frames of your glasses maybe? It is also possible its a natural light problem coming from a window. Perhaps other times you were playing you had the door closed, now the door is open your TrackR is catching reflected light (not likely). Was someone playing Wii while you you were playing? That can mess with TIR 5 to. One last possibility is your hat clip got bent and and needs to be adjusted. Just some ideas. I recommend getting the TrackClip Pro. It made a world of difference for me. I need, I need, I need... What about my wants? QuickSilver original. "Off with his job" Mr Burns on the Simpsons. Python Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Mine occasionally goes whacky for whatever reason, my usual response is to get in a rage, quit and try again later. My track IR 5 definitely has mood swings, I keep meaning to pick up the track clip pro but I never wear head phones so wearing it may be a problem... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Mt5_Roie Posted March 10, 2013 Author Posted March 10, 2013 One thing I noticed was when I alt tab out of the game, the TIR 5 software recognizes A-10C as BlackShark. Also, sometimes even if I have the A10C TIR profile selected, it will go to default profile if you do not check exclusive. Even then, sometimes it messes it up. I don't wear headphones either and the headband thing I'm not too sure. My gf already thinks I look silly enough with the hat clip.."Are you done playing planes now???" lol. My guess is to unplug the TIR when its not in use. When I am using the software it doesn't bug out as often as in the game. I was wearing a hoodie with the zippers open maybe it was picking that up. It seemed to do it most in the landing training mission. Coder - Oculus Rift Guy - Court Jester

Black Shark is what TIR thinks DCS World is, no matter what aircraft you are flying. That is what you need to set your profile to and TIR and the sim will hookup just fine. snafup Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 This happens to me ever now and then.I have a light above and behind me. I bought a cheap golf visor and clipped the reflectors to it with a plastic tie. (and the wife just shakes her head when i go in for a flight. I tell her she bought me the warthog so what are you gonna do)
Mt5_Roie Posted March 11, 2013 Author Posted March 11, 2013 I did realize the window behind me is more to the right but still a streak of light happens to get in right where the TIR is posted on my monitor. I have not played much at night so I need to confirm that. I'm using my gf's Phillys hat that she got signed by Cliff Lee so she can't make too much fun of me haha. dburne Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 My computer is in my den, and while the blinds are always closed - at certain times of the day, if the sun is out, enough gets through it can cause this type of behaviour. You can also increase the light filtering setting as well, that can help some in minor cases. I too use the hat clip, however when I got my Track IR5 I got the Pro bundle, I really need to give the Pro clip a try - I too never wear headphones also, which is why I have not tried it to this point. Other than the times I mention where the sunlight does come through, I do not have an issue. cichlidfan Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 :music_whistling: Seriously though, Does the pro clip make much difference? It isn't cheap but I'll grab one if it does. IMHO, if lighting conditions are good, for TIR that is, then the hat clip works quite well. However, once you move into less ideal, more ambient light, conditions the proclip seems to work better. Btw, I had to look for a bit to find a hair band that was plain black and would hold the proclip. :megalol: 1 ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero, i7-6700K, Noctua NH-D14 Cooler, Crucial 32GB DDR4 2133, Samsung 950 Pro NVMe 256GB, Samsung EVO 250GB & 500GB SSD, 2TB Caviar Black, Zotac GTX 1080 AMP! Python Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Well I have a large window right next to my pc, not to mention a radiator and vivarium behind, I'm sure the heat doesn't help so I may have to invest in the pro. Many thanks. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
cichlidfan Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 I shouldn't think the heat is an issue. If that cam were seeing a strong point source perhaps but even if you are using strong ceramic heating elements I suspect that their output is not focused enough to cause a problems. Mt5_Roie Posted March 12, 2013 Author Posted March 12, 2013 I wonder if they have considered creating a pro clip attachment so we do not have to use hairbands or headsets? My gf gave me a weird look when I was looking for a hairband in her bag the other day... I need to do more research. I'm lucky i have good blinds and the window is behind me, if it were not that way, the hat clip could be troublesome later. Coder - Oculus Rift Guy - Court Jester
Foul Ole Ron Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 I had a similar problem before with Track Ir going nuts sometimes. Turned out it was the base of a lamp causing the problem - not the actual light bulb itself. The base was one of those you tap to turn it on and off and for some reason Track Ir saw it as a light source. You can check pretty easily if there's another source interfering in the Track Ir settings - it shows all the light sources that it is currently seeing. In my case I could see a weird looking blob of a light source which was causing the problem.

I've used pro clip all the time. Cannot tell the difference because I haven't even tried the passive reflectors. But pro clip has always been rock solid. No hiccups or "going nuts". Never. It just works.
ZQuickSilverZ Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 Yes it does make that much of a difference. Unfortunately it will break if you even look at it wrong. Honestly if you know how to solder I would recommend you order 3 LED's, a battery case, and some resisters and go wireless. I need, I need, I need... What about my wants? QuickSilver original. RpSPT Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Yes it does make that much of a difference. Unfortunately it will break if you even look at it wrong. Honestly if you know how to solder I would recommend you order 3 LED's, a battery case, and some resisters and go wireless. If anyone does this, the leds have to be seen from wide angles. Maybe standard leds filed flat will work. I am using a cap with the standard clip but I have ideal conditions for gaming so it works quite well. Most problems come from trying to look down right or left in the cockpit. I quess the pro clip would fix this problem? I think it would be better using some different methods for tracking than lights and a camera but there doesnt seem to be any alternatives on the market.
