hello guys, hello devs!

i really love DCS products and the World system seems to be very promising in regards of the future....

but there is yet one feature, which is missing in regards of online GUI...a lobby.

a virtual room, where you see which players are online, and where you could chat with them prior to hosting a mission and preferably even have a "add friend"-function, like hyperlobby or even like steam where you are able to add friends, and see when they are online and chat with them.

i think it would help making DCS more popular and more attractive for the online community.

many people im talking with(mainly IL2 pilots) really like DCS, but dont really play it because of their so called "lack of multiplayer".

while this is exaggerated, theres still some truth in it.its hard to find servers of your joice, and its hard to host missions. mainly because of the lack of the above mentioned feature i think.

im sure im not the first one with that or a similar idea, and im confident that the devs have thought into that direction as well already.

is it complicated to implement such a feature?

i think we would all benefit from this feature, but whats your opinion about it guys? members and devs included!

I think just having a chat area in the main multiplayer area where you see all the servers would be excellent. It would be a great place to hang out and find others who just want to hop in and fly a mission.

This feature was mentioned in the ED long term development plan a while back. Would definitely be great for the game.

I always found hyperlobby to be clumsy, if they could do something like it without complicating the normal online server browser (like we have now), I can't say I would complain but I don't know how much I would end up using it.

EDIT: I have made a thread where you can discuss what I've proposed here.

DCSW TS GUI

How About DCS bying a TeamSpeak Server with large number of slots for users? That would be a great step to help users, it wouldn't cost them too much and it would give us loby where you can get people to play with you, make your own room, start server and enjoy.

That would solve the problem, give us space for the pre-match activities.

Have in mind that the Net Code for DCSW is yet to be refurbished. Having that in mind - personally - I would like them (ED) to be focused on setting things straight for the network based coding, instead of wasting time on creating an in-game loby.

EDIT: Or they can simply write a piece of code that would integrate GUI for implementing Team Speak that runs behind the sim, something like X-Fire. You enter the game and have a keystroke assigned to bring up GUI that controls TS without Alt-Tabbing.

I prefer this solution. And anyway, it is a feature that would be of use even without making a ED TeamSpeak server.

For example - I change server but then I must alt-tab if I want to go to public TS of the DCSW Server which I join...

Anyone agrees to that?

Is it possible to use TeamSpeak with DCS world? I have tried to use it as 'Client' but have not been able to set up a hotkey to transmit when using a Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS with my Windows 7 64 bit system. I AM able to set up a hotkey on my laptop (same system parameters), so the problem seems to lie either with the Thrustmaster hardware or the DCS World software.

Any ideas? :(

You might have to run TS as administrator. If not the TS will not pick your button on the HOTAS. I had a similar thing with mine.

Simply right click your TS icon, choose run as administrator, and your set.

I approached one of the ED devs regarding information about the Jabber protocol that ED multiplayer lobby uses with a view to coding a Hyperlobby style application for the community. I was told that they couldnt release the info but a Hyperlobby style application was being talked about.

I would like to have some more infos on the Servers! Like a mission independant message. This could include important information like "the password is available on our ts with the following url: ts.blahblah.blah"

Right now everybody who wants to include such information needs to edit all missions that are run on the server.

You have to ensure that all the switches, etc are set to OFF (no red indicators on in the windows controllers test/calibrate)

A. Most Users already have and use their own TS Server, a TS Server of a Site they Frequent, or TS Server of the Session's host.

B. Keep it Linked to DCSW and require an ED Login, It's easy to Monitor and BAN troublesome users.

C. They just got MP decently stable and you them to gut it to splice in an external API?

If you plan to use TS with your HOTAS you could also try TARS. Very nice addon for TS.
