I wouldnt overclock a PhenomII x4 on the Stock HSF too far.

You'd easily hit the 60° Thermal Max under load.

Windows 10 Pro, Ryzen 2700X @ 4.6Ghz, 32GB DDR4-3200 GSkill (F4-3200C16D-16GTZR x2),

Looks like you'll need to get a better heat sink and fan and thermal paste if you still have issues then might wanna look at airflow in you're case adding more case fan tiding up cables blocking airflow.

I have two 120's blowing on the side, one 120 on the front, and one exhaust 120 on the back. I might need another exhaust on the top but cables are probably my big issue, especially since I can't move them out of the way due to their short length combined with my mid-sized case.

Intel Burn Test doesn't take a long time and for Prime95 you can run maybe 1-2 hours. Some forums on internet say you have to 12 hour load test but I find it ridiculous for normal gaming. I hated those programs too in the beginning but it's the only way unfortunately. Just as you spend time prepping your attack and flying to a combat area, you have to carefully overclock to hit the target smack bang in the middle and return home alive. :)

My idle temp is around 43-45C and I easily hit 47C when watching Youtube videos and at load it gets to 60C. I find it acceptable from an old overclocked CPU though and I plan to take it maybe close to 65C.

Just get a better cooler. You won't gain anything with an extra fan in your case if you have rubbish stock cooler. Your CPU has potential and if you're dreaming about realizing it, it's not that much money to easily take it further.

Nice anyone running over 4.0MHz with a over clock how stable is that? Can you run like that everyday no problem or just when you're testing?

4.2 can run all day (55-67deg) and I live in Thailand...hot..hot..hot

Fellow OC's, I just upgraded to an AMD 8 core FX which comes stock at I think 4.0 or 4.1. Using the "Auto" OC'ing features, I've been around 4.35 with no problems. However, when I bump up the "CPU Ratio" setting from 20 to 21, everything is stable, except that when I run DCS, I get this horrible studdering effect. Does anyone know what might be causing this? I've got a Corsair liquid cooled radiator/fan setup -- temp is 44 deg C., which I think is totally fine. (I'm no expert at OC'ing -- really just a novice at best). Any suggestions, or is it simply a case of OC'ing too much?

Well I was running my I5 at 4.5ghz, did work well for almost a year, but it's been falling over a lot in the last 3 months. So dropped it back to default at the mo. Too be honest, I've not really seen that much difference either.

Running my I7-2700K @ 4.6 for over a year with no problem.

I do have the speed step enabled so it will idle down when required, and using offsets to maintain 1.38 max voltage.

Running LinX0.6.4 produces temps around 70 C. max, but rarely see those high of temps when gaming, those produce mid 50's.

Anything over 4.6 results in less than stable conditions for the voltage range I want to maintain, so 4.6 is the max I will run

Phenom II X4 955 running at 3.5Ghz @1.3v.

I was running at 3.6Ghz/1.325v with the NB @2400Mhz/1.3v but even though I'm using a TRUE rev.c heatsink and decent fan, it was still hitting the low 50's under load and I've been told running this cpu at 50+ is not good for it, so I've knocked it down to 3.5Ghz/1.3v now.

It idles at 800Mhz @0.975v but still the temps are rather high at 30-35c. My other system, with a Athlon II X4 630@2.8Ghz (stock) and Xigmatek HDT-1284 topdown cooler, idles at 18c!

Main rig: i5-4670k @4.4Ghz, Asus Z97-A, Scythe Kotetsu HSF, 32GB Kingston Savage 2400Mhz DDR3, 1070ti, Win 10 x64, Samsung Evo 256GB SSD (OS & Data), OCZ 480GB SSD (Games), WD 2TB and WD 3TB HDDs, 1920x1200 Dell U2412M, 1920x1080 Dell P2314T touchscreen

Same here, and not a single crash / freeze / BSOD so far. But I wouldn't (and will not) go much over that myself either...
