well, I see that I am not the only one, apparently it is not working for anyone??? I was excited, and then nothing,, so sad... keep up the work.. so many of us believe this can be great!

keep in mind, I just put a clean fresh brand new install of Win 8.1 on a reformatted Sata drive, and put this new version of Aries, when it crapped out... I thought it was going to be perfect... but would not work at all. the new version that was just released.. TeamSpeak works great as usual.

My gut feeling says it's about 50% that experience crashes.

Some have solved it by running TS while installing. One have solved it by running TS, not uninstalled 7.3BETA and just installed latest.

I don't have any ideas, the issue seems random and intermittent.

I think the problem could be in updating from 1.973 instead of 1.976 Beta.

1.973 don't have the new protocol files system, but 1.976 Beta has it, so maybe updating from 73 could cause this TS crashes.

I did not use the 1.976 beta, and I have not had any problems with it. So I am not sure what the issue can be.

Maybe, and only maybe, one way to avoid TS crashes is to be sure than in Settings/plugins on TS never ever untick the Aries plugin box and also don't click the reload button. This causes crashes on TS.

If people need to turn off Aries use the export.lua on off function.

Won't work. After installing 1.976 TeamSpeak won't start so you can't tick or untick the box!

That is the real issue, it crashes immediately when initializing the AriesRadio.dll when checking for plugins.

@Towsim - any chance to get a version without the protocol.exe being called from AriesRadio, to check if it really is the root cause?

I didn't update at all, I had formatted my hard drive, and install Win 8.1. Then installed the new Aries. it just will not start.

The thing i´m trying to explain is that maybe it´s necessary to install first 1.976 Beta, and after, uninstall, erase protocol.exe and install 1.976 Gold, but Neck have said he installed 1.976 Gold without Beta first and it´s running fine.

For me no problem at all from Beta 76

Dear stressed Aries users,

as a first measure to prevent the TS crash, please delete or rename the file:

C:\Program Files\AriesWings\PRCL\AriesProtocol.exe

It seems to be the reason for the crash. There is obviously a timing problem which causes a TS crash in a special situation. If TS does not find AriesProtocol.exe, it will not send protocol messages to this application. At least in my test environment it worked reliably. If someone still experiences the crash after the change, please post it here.

Sorry…

No joy.

Clean install of 1.976. TS3 crashes on startup.

Deleting AriesProtocol.exe. Aries is show as "deactivated" (no tic) in settings/plugins. TS3 crashes when I try to actívate Aries pluign in Settings/plugins.

For now the only way to make 1.976 work have been to install 1.976 without uninstall 1.973beta. I have a "dcs stop working" when I quit a mission but I press accept and DCS continues to work without problem, even with a debriefing log.

To exclude operating system issues, please add the answers to the following questions if you post:

  • What operating system (Windows 7/8…)?
  • In case of Windows 7: Windows Home, Professional, Ultimate ?
  • How are you logged in (Administrator, standard user..)?

In my test environment I run Windows 7 Home as administrator and can provoke the crash. In my development environment I run Windows 7 Ultimate and no crash is observed.

Windows 7 Home, as Administrator, running all installations and SW with admin privileges.

Deleting protocol.exe doesn't work. Tested that already, TS3 still crashes.

Aries plugin box unticked has caused TS crashes before and after this new version. If the plugin box is unticked TS will crash always. The same if reload plugins is pressed.

I think, I have solved the bug. We will test it this night in our community. If no issues come up, I will publish it immediately after our session. There is only one file to be replaced.

Yep was that the AriesRadio.dll i took that out and it stopped TS from crashing also stopped Aries from working to.
