This depends on how fast you are with starting the download.

The first people to start won't see as much benefit, but as more people come in the benefit is cumulative, since they can start off with downloading from peers rather than the main download servers you would be using - which in turn means you won't be as heavily hit when others come in.

It's not a magical fix, but remember that all traffic that goes through the peer network is traffic that is not clogging the main servers.

The problem is people with "not-so-awesome" uploads clogging the main servers. Everyone will benefit from people with 100/100mbit+ connections if they get a decent download speed in the beginning, or 10 min head start, that's all.

Okey.

Say 10 people download on 1mbit available.

They get 100kbit each.

Now say the same 10 people download on 1mbit availablee, but they have "not-so-awesome" uploads so only send 50kbit to peers.

They get 100kbit each from the server.

Then they get 50kbit from each other.

Total download is 150kbit per user.

What is the loss?

My specific point here: point me to ANY deleterious effect compared to NOT having a P2P network involved. Anything.

I got it downloaded and now it will not install.

Keeps telling me 1.2.3 ### is already installed and 1.2.4### cannot install because some mods won't work.

Got me stumped, so I'm trying the autoupdate, which should be an embarrassment for ED/DCS. It crawls at a mere 10kbs.

edit: I'm getting frustrated with it and when that happens I usually ask for a refund.

Ugh, I set the autoupdater to download when I left for work in the morning, and then I return 9 hours later to discover that there's still over 200 megs to go at a rate of 2KB/s. My connection is not terribly fast, so at this point it would take even longer to torrent the full 1.2.4 install. Guess I won't be flying as soon as I had hoped. D:

I'm sorry but I'm not going to seed.

The lack of server capacity should be an embarassment for ED/DCS and has made me angry.

Hell, ask some of us with servers to mirror for you when you're expecting big demand, but more importantly buy some better servers or something.

The lack of capacity is rediculous. 5-10kbs

BTW, I would have provided a mirror for North America.

85mb to go at a blazing 10-15kb/s, its 1999 all over again

I have been sitting at 0.2 kb/s for a really long time. This is after I got a hash mismatch, requiring me to re-update everything. Second time trying, the thing completely stopped and I had to redo it again. :megalol::megalol::megalol:

Torrent is going very badly for me as well - down around 40KB/s. ARgh! please seed guys...

Bonedust, please take a moment to calm down.

You cannot install into a folder that is already populated with DCS World.

If you downloaded "clean", install into a clean folder.
