metalnwood Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Glider, I agree, the different way people make panels will probably show up more than font but if people want to mix and match and are happy with the result then they have what they want. As far as font I believe the correct font is MS33558 which is available around the place. If you don't have it search the forums there are links about I think, otherwise pm me and I can send it to you.

I already have and use MS33558, heres the issue it dosnt look right on some aircraft panels, the other point is that, do sim-pilots want what is accurate to the aircraft, or accurate to the sim. They are not always the same. We are an extremely faistidious bunch of people, I know I am when it comes to my cockpit. I want everything to be as accurate as possible to the aircraft. The use of MS33558 is ok but not the answer to all cockpits. I think that most will be extremely close looking to each other irrelevant of provider, the difference will only be subtle, thats why we buy them to look like the real thing as much as possible. I believe we would soon find out if we were wrong in the detail LOL. We can only do the best we can do and post pics of the panels and let people make their own choice. http://www.modeldesigns.co.uk Mobo Asus Maximus XI RAM:64GB DDR4 CPU:Intel I9 9900 Nvidia 2080TI WIN10 64Bit HP Reverb
Deadman Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Your correct not all panels use MS33558 in the A-10 . Most military aircraft have some panels in the cockpits using the font. I am not sure what other cockpits your speak of though. With that A-10C being one of the most recently re-paneled it has several fonts used on different panels. the point that is used on the Fuel panel was the main point. https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.

Deadman Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Looks good are you making the panels back lit? if so you will need to make a modification for the area behind the RCVR light knob. https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.

Thanks for the input I have re-designed the spacer to allow more light through. I have put the spacer above the top panel just to demonstrate. http://www.modeldesigns.co.uk Mobo Asus Maximus XI RAM:64GB DDR4 CPU:Intel I9 9900 Nvidia 2080TI WIN10 64Bit HP Reverb
HornetUK Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Hello, Yes I would also be very interested. I am rather new to simpit making do you know anything about the wiring of each panel you are going to make.
Deadman Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 (edited) Ah no it looks as if you have made the top panel two pieces? it should be on take a look at real panels on the net. The area i was speaking about is the rotary on off dimmer switch in the RCVR LY position. I should just keep quite and let you make your stuff Edited May 31, 2013 by Deadman https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
