Hoggorm
Hi, I've been away for a couple of months, so I've not followed the changes in the latest updates, but while flying today I realised that the HUD became invisible while I was flying in clouds. Is this correct behaviour? Thanks
Mike Busutil
Did you try to change the HUD mode from night to day? This will change the HUD color from Green to Amber.... You can find the HUD mode switch on the Armament HUD Control Panel (AHCP) Edited June 28, 2013 by Mike Busutil [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Checkout my user files here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/?CREATED_BY=Mike%20Busutil&set_filter=Y
sobek
Actually amber is night mode. :) Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
Mike Busutil
Yeah that ;) I believe it is set to green by default and can be hard to see at times during the day. Hoggorm
That's how huds work. So it is correct that the HUD should not be visible while in clouds? Im sure it was readable a couple of months ago.
Mustang
So it is correct that the HUD should not be visible while in clouds? Im sure it was readable a couple of months ago. Are you using HDR? cold HDR can be overpowering by default, some mods can help with this.
Hoggorm
I'm using warm HDR, not Cold.

Can you post a screenshot? The HUD can be hard to see in certain lighting situations. There has been no change what I know of.
PeterP
HUD not visible in clouds this conversation may help to relief your problem: >>> http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1798529#post1798529
Hoggorm
Can you post a screenshot? The HUD can be hard to see in certain lighting situations. There has been no change what I know of. Please see attatched photos. As I do not know how to take screenshots in game, I've used a camera instead... The Prt Sc button only takes a photo of my desktop. The first picture is taken about a minute before the other. As you probably can see, the middle windscreen (With HUD) appear brighter than the side Windows while in clouds. In clouds: If this heading was my desired attack heading I would not be able to see when to drop my bombs...
metheluckydonut
That's just how HUDs work. They only work if they're brighter than the background. Since clouds are pretty bright (being white and whatnot) the clouds "overpower" the reflected HUD. DCS Wishlist: Ka
r813
You can increase the intensity of the HUD. Not sure if that would make it bright enough to see in that situation though. You use the "INTEN" rocker switch below the HUD.
ralfidude
I have been getting this problem a lot lately. Haven't had an issue with it before, and I've had the same HDR on since the beta. It's annoying but the intensity doesn't help and the night HUD mode doesnt either. I just switch to all my gauges below the HUD, like HSI, ADI, etc and so forth and figure it out that way. Good practice really. [sIGPIC]http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b66/ralfidude/redofullalmost_zpsa942f3fe.gif[/sIGPIC]
OzStriker
Maybe you need to zoom into your HUD? IRL the HUD is right there "in your face" if that makes sense and should be visibly for everything except pointing directly at the sun. IRL it is common to play with the intensity regularly, the HUD should always be visible but not overpowering to the point where you won't see other aircraft, runway lights and the like. OzStriker
I turned it up a bit for the sake of the photo but you get the idea. HUD will always be visible in clouds, just not when pointed at the sun.
