Well that was an anti-climax. It asked me if I wanted to apply the update to which I replied yes. It then applied two small patches and then lost interest in the whole affair. Said the server was too busy to handle my request and to try again later. But now the program refuses to even remember anything about the update. It just fires straight up and reports version 1.24 still. I went into the DCS folders and found the update app which I tried. That does bugger all too. Looks like I'm waiting for 1.26 :(

Ultimately, the decision to update is yours.

So, the outcomes?

You Like 1.2.5 and you continue to play as normal

You dont Like it, you wanna roll back to 1.2.4,

In which case, there's 2 ways, one way is the copy and backup the entire DCSWorld Program Folder as well as the /Saved Games/DCS/ Folder BEFORE you update, if you dont like 1.2.5, it's as simple as deleting the Program Folder and Saved Games Folder and Putting the 1.2.4 folders back. (*I havent tried that personally though),

or you can just use the Command Line: dcs_updater.exe update 1.2.4

Windows 10 Pro, Ryzen 2700X @ 4.6Ghz, 32GB DDR4-3200 GSkill (F4-3200C16D-16GTZR x2),

ASRock X470 Taichi Ultimate, XFX RX6800XT Merc 310 (RX-68XTALFD9)

Start Orb, All Programs, Eagle Dynamics, DCS Repair, then DCS Update or Command Line or dcs_updater.exe update 1.2.5

Thanks Cichlidfan. However, my options from the start menu don't read that way. All I get is something like All programs / Eagle Dynamics / DCS World / Documentation / .............. Then one or two manuals, Huey, Mustang etc....

Edit: I'm not at the PC right now, but the above is not far off.

Thanks for the advise both, but I'm still a bit confused. "Orb" means nothing to me, and I cannot find a Repair World option anywhere..

OK, now that I'm aware that I was clicking Edit button instead of quote button.. lol...

Lets try this again,

Start Ob is the Start Button (MS Calls it an "Orb" for Windows Vista and 7)

Since the StartMenu Folder is Empty, Check in:

<root>\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\ (And ....\bin\)

Windows 10 Pro, Ryzen 2700X @ 4.6Ghz, 32GB DDR4-3200 GSkill (F4-3200C16D-16GTZR x2),

ASRock X470 Taichi Ultimate, XFX RX6800XT Merc 310 (RX-68XTALFD9)

Should look like this doing it from Start Menu:

"C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\bin\DCS_updater.exe" repair

Other than that I would say you then have a bad download ... so redo the download once again..

Well, I fired up DCS today and it again asked about updating (seems like it scans for updates every 24 hours to keep in phase with the moon or something). Anyhow, it started loading the 1.5gb patch got about 90% of the way and then got pissy about something and terminated the download. I shall go through the whole debacle again tomorrow no doubt when Mars aligns with Jupiter. Went through the bin folder and no repair files, just 2 updater files, neither of which do anything.

Ordinarily, I'd just do a complete fresh install of the whole thing but the files are massive, and verifying what I have and haven't bought and trying to re-activate modules fills me with dread. I really don't know why it is acting up so much. The system has been built solely for DCS, based on a clean Windows 7 install on a pretty pokey machine. All drivers are current, and the only other program on there is Trackir.

it Auto Checks once per 24/hours.

But if the download failed, you should be able to start where you left off by going to Start/All Programs/Eagle Dynamics/DCS_Update

My brother's system cancelled the update and said the user terminated the update process, when in reality no one was even home, lol.

As I said earlier, my options from the Start Menu are pretty much non-existent. A few doc files is all that's in there. Don't know why it should be so barren. And the DCS_Update does absolutely nothing. On the one hand I'm a bit miffed as I'm stuck with the old version, but on the other, from what I gather, 1.25 hasn't brought much in the way of improved performance anyhow. Just a bit of tidying up by all accounts. Deep breath and let the pain ebb away, lol.

Delete the whole thing and download a fresh one and do a clean install..you should not be missing those files in the start up menu area...:helpsmilie:

Just a quick update....... Just had a play in the bin folder with the Updater file. At least it responded this time but not in a good way. Does this error message mean anything to anyone? Can't apply update - dcs_update_apply.exe basedir cachedir storedir update_db_id Means bugger all to me, lol.

That's odd, 'cos when I installed it everything was done on default. I didn't specify any bizarre locations or anything, so it should find things just where it put them in the first place. Very odd.

Well, wish me luck, I'm about to uninstall :(. If I ever get it running again with all the modules I've paid for it'll be a miracle. Thanks for trying to help folk. Much appreciated :)

Okay so you are saying that now you have the "Repair DCS World " in your start up menu..the only other thing is did you clean out your registry files..

If you have it all in the right place like:

Start\All Programs\Eagle Dynamic's\DCS\Repair DCS World<<<is that there now...

No. I could not find a "Repair DCS World" anywhere, the start up menu was virtually empty of Eagle Dynamics options. I located the Updater exe in the bin folder. Cleaning of registry files is beyond my expertise, but, given that it was a clean install on a clean machine I'm surprised that they have gone awry so quick. DCS has now been removed from the machine anyhow, so I have it all to look forward to again.

Well, even when you delete DCS World from system there is always a registry file left behind..not always but sometimes..this could be some of the problem..
