HarSu Posted September 3, 2013 Author Posted September 3, 2013 Hi. Deadman, Thanks for the advice! I came across these fittings, that are very colse to the original ones: ebay #170945529544 Not exactly cheap, but available in quantity. Cheers, DSP Dropship Pilot, nice catch with the fittings. But like You and Deadman said, it´s pretty expensive... at least for my "Aces II".:( My costs for my seat is so far pretty much under 50€. Only things that I have bought is 2 mousepad (for headrest cushion), some screws and paint cans. All other stuff is from old furniture (all wood parts), an old garden umbrella(for cushions) and my neighbour old Opel Astra (for seatbelts and other stuff).:smilewink: But now when I know what I should do with the ballistic hoses, my seat should be ready at this weekend.:joystick: HarSu.
HarSu Posted September 7, 2013 Author Posted September 7, 2013 Hi to all! Ok, I got my "Aces II" seat to finished. So here you go... I can post more pictures if you want!:music_whistling: HarSu.
nobrot Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 Dam thats a good looking seat, I was thinking of fitting a motorized car seat to my pit.. but may have to reconsider! Duckling Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 HarSu. Seat looks... fantastic.. Do you have some pics from within the hull of how you made the rolls for the raisers? - - - -
HarSu Posted September 8, 2013 Author Posted September 8, 2013 HarSu. Seat looks... fantastic.. Do you have some pics from within the hull of how you made the rolls for the raisers? Hi Gus. It was little bit tight place to take photos, but here´s some pictures of those rolls... The raisers tend to stuck on the edge of hole where it goes trough to the seat belt retractor. Maybe it needs some "guiding roll" there, but after all my raisers are just decorations so I leave it just as it is now. HarSu.
Dropship Pilot Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 That seat is a work of art! And what amazes me even more is how quick you get all this together. It's about a year now that I'm working on mine and I'm still not finished (anyone with a spare sticker sheet? :music_whistling:). Cheers, DSP
HarSu Posted September 19, 2013 Author Posted September 19, 2013 Hi to all. A little help is needed again.... Can anyone give some dimensions of canopy frame height?:helpsmilie: I put some options on my picture... What is the distance from point "A" or "B" on the top of the frame? Any dimesions are wellcome.:music_whistling: Cheers. HarSu.
HarSu Posted September 26, 2013 Author Posted September 26, 2013 Hey. OK. Because there was no any info of the canopy frame, I decided to make it like "It might look like this" canopy frame.;) I put some sticky tape and some other sh*t, to support the frame to see that it fit´s on it´s place....(Looks good to me, just some finishing):detective: Does this look anything like A-10 canopy frame? :noexpression: Let me know your opinion. HarSu.
MTFDarkEagle Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 Shape looks great, but I think it's a bit too high. Reference: Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
HarSu Posted September 27, 2013 Author Posted September 27, 2013 Hi MTFDarkEagle! Thanks for correction. You are Right, the frame was too high. I hope that it´s not too low now. It´s very hard to tell how high it should be, unless you haven´t sit in genuine A-10 cockpit. You start to get blind things like these when you stare them by your self. HarSu. 1
Sabre-TLA Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 (edited) Hi HarSu! Your pit looks great. Sorry I didn't reply sooner. Here is a measurement I took after blowing up this diagram to roughly accurate size (basically measured the size of the instruments and blew up the diagram until the instruments measured 5.75"). Here is the measurement for the cockpit canopy: Widest point was ~37" but this depends on the width of your pit. Your Line A: From the top of the glare shield to the top of the canopy was 14.5" and roughly 12.5" from the top of the UFC to the top of the canopy. Your Line B: I measured 31.5" on my blown up diagram. I don't know how accurate this diagram is but it scales out well when compared to instrument sizes so it's been a good model for my pit build. HarSu Posted September 28, 2013 Author Posted September 28, 2013 Thanks Sabre-TLA! The width is 37.2" as like you have measured, and the height needs to be 2.5" lower than it now. I´m going to fix it tomorrow, because tonight I´m going to get drunk . :drunk: Cheers. HarSu.

Deadman Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 Angel of the camera and perspective will cause you all kinds of grief working off of pictures https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
HarSu Posted October 15, 2013 Author Posted October 15, 2013 Hi! Little update for my "Aces II" movement mechanism. Actually this is version 3.:music_whistling: I have build 3 different types of lifting mechanism past week, and this one turned out to be most powerful and reliable. It needs some more electronics, but those arrive tomorrow. HarSu.
Deadman Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 Pictures and measurments for the canopy frame are in my thread now https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
HarSu Posted October 15, 2013 Author Posted October 15, 2013 Pictures and measurments for the canopy frame are in my thread now Thanks Daedman. Yes, I noticed those measurements. I'm so jealous of your A-10a cockpit, wish I could have some opportunity to buy something like that here in Finland. HarSu.
Ryan Barnes Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 The fabrication looks awesome. Just curious, has anyone thought about just using this with some additional parts? The best weathered A-10C skins for download HERE
lxsapper Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 The fabrication looks awesome. Just curious, has anyone thought about just using this with some additional parts? I,ve seen a build (can't remember it it was here or on viperspits) that the guy was using on of those. Preaty simple, the seat raised on the seat rails, he just added some metal suport part for the jack to push the seat.
HarSu Posted October 15, 2013 Author Posted October 15, 2013 The fabrication looks awesome. Just curious, has anyone thought about just using this with some additional parts? Well, my second try was something like that , but there wasn't enough torque to lift up whole packet (Me and the seat) IF THE JACK was in lowest position. But if the jack was about 10 cm above of it´s lowest position, then it will lift up. But I do not have that much extra space to rise up my seat. Though I´m using the hospital bed motors, than real electric jack. HarSu.
Ryan Barnes Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 Seems strange, since it's made to lift a corner of a vehicle. I think it comes down to how many amps you can feed it from a 12v power supply. But with your solution its a non-issue. The best weathered A-10C skins for download HERE
Panthro Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 dont forget about leverage, no vehicale is lifted from the start position they all start from a higher position due to wheels etc. I bet the designers knew this. [sIGPIC]http://forums.eagle.ru/signaturepics/sigpic86362_2.gif[/sIGPIC]
